  • Patent number: 6523480
Abstract: A transport system of the dual-mode type which comprises dual-mode vehicles (1) and a monorail (2), whereby said dual-mode vehicles can run both on an ordinary roadway (10) and as rail vehicles on the monorail (2). The monorail has a substantially triangular cross-sectional profile (7) with one apex of the triangle facing upwards, and the vehicles (1) each have a downwards-facing, through-going indentation (6) in the longitudinal direction with a cross-sectional profile which corresponds substantially to the cross-sectional profile (7) of the monorail (2). Each vehicle has driving wheels (8) for running on a roadway (10) and drive- and support wheels for running on the monorail (2). The vehicle has at least two drive-wheels (13a, 13b) are placed with their axes of rotation (20a, 20b) substantially vertical, and such that at least one drive-wheel (13a, 13b) for running on the monorail is placed on each side of a substantially vertical surface of the monorail (2).

  • Patent number: 5845583
Abstract: The invention comprises a replaceable power unit and transportation system for a dual-mode vehicle, such as an electric car which can operate on built-in batteries and by way of power supplied by a running rail. The vehicle moreover comprises road wheels for moving on a roadway as well as rail wheels for moving on a railway. The railway is a substantially triangular profile wherein the vehicle includes a downwardly facing rail interface extending in the longitudinal direction. The power unit forms an elongate unit which is adapted to be mechanically and electrically connected to the vehicle by mounting it in the rail interface.

  • Patent number: 5813349
Abstract: A transport system comprises a number of dual-mode vehicles (11) and a number of station systems (31). Each of the dual-mode vehicles (11) accommodates a number of passengers, such as, for example ten passengers. Each station system (31) comprises a number of platforms (32) each with a roadway section (36) configured as a ramp on which vehicles are guided forward by electronic control. Each of the platforms (32) are raised above the roadway. The roadway includes barriers (34) with an opening (35) on each side for the admission of a stationary vehicle (11) which has openable doors on each side of the vehicle which can provide admission to all seats simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 4116074
Abstract: A method and apparatus for facilitating examination of an object within an optically opaque body through the use of impulse-echo techniques by projecting to an observation point, via a reflective surface positioned to intersect a line between the observation point and the object to be examined, a virtual image of a linear array of luminous points corresponding to echo-producing points of the object, such that each luminous point of the reflected image appears at a location, relative to the observation point, that coincides with the actual location of the corresponding echo-producing point of the object in the body.

  • Patent number: 3939697
Abstract: Method and apparatus are disclosed in which it is possible by means of ultrasonic examination according to the pulse echo method to obtain an indication, or a recording of images, of internal inhomogeneities in otherwise homogeneous bodies, corresponding substantially to the images obtained by producing a normal radiographic film of the body. To obtain this an ultrasonic angle probe is moved across the surface of the body and the echo signals are used to produce punctiform markings on a recording surface in such a way that (a) the markings are effected along a moving axis of indication, (b) the displacement of a reference point on the axis of indication follows the displacement of the sound emission point of the probe, (c) the direction of the axis of indication follows the direction of the projection of the sound path on the surface of the body, and (d) the distance from the reference point to each marking is proportional to the echo time of the corresponding ultrasonic pulse.
