  • Patent number: 10959344
Abstract: An outdoor electrical apparatus (10) and methodology for manufacturing such apparatus are provided. The apparatus includes an electrical device (12), and an encapsulation housing system including a main encapsulant (11a) and an outer housing (11b). The main encapsulant may be arranged to encapsulate the electrical device, and the outer housing may be arranged to selectively encase surfaces of the main encapsulant based on an extent to which the surfaces of the main encapsulant otherwise would be subject to outdoor exposure. The main encapsulant comprises a bisphenol epoxy resin, and the outer housing comprises a cycloaliphatic epoxy resin to provide weatherability and resistance to ultraviolet (UV) radiation.

  • Patent number: 9818509
Abstract: A manufacturing process for a structure having a porcelain body and a flange includes: inserting an end portion of the body into a flange opening, providing a gap between the body end portion and a metal surface of the flange, filling the gap with adhesive to create a bond between the surfaces, installing an electrically active subassembly in the porcelain body and placing the structure in a heated environment to simultaneously dry the subassembly and fully cure the adhesive to provide the bond.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 14, 2013
Date of Patent: November 14, 2017
    Assignee: Siemens Aktiengesellschaft

  • Patent number: 8830655
Abstract: A capacitor (20A-E) formed as a roll of inner and outer electrode strips (21, 23) alternating with inner and outer dielectric strips (22, 24). Each of the dielectric strips (22, 24) is shorter than an inwardly adjacent one of the electrode strips (21, 23) at a radially outer end thereof (21 E, 23E). This exposes the radially outer end of each electrode strip on respectively different portions of an outer side surface (26, 28) of the capacitor. The exposed ends of the electrode strips may be arranged on opposite sides of the capacitor, such that stacking the capacitors interconnects them either in parallel, in series, or in combinations thereof in different embodiments.

  • Patent number: 6683531
Abstract: A coupling device for providing a communications link for RF broadband data signals to a power line is disclosed. The coupling device comprises a high-pass filter element connected to the power line via a first port. The filter element allows RF broadband data signals to pass while low frequency signals are substantially attenuated. A second port connected to the high-pass filter element provides the RF broadband data signals to a RF broadband data signal line at a customer's premise. A drain coil connected to the high-pass filter element and connected to a ground provides grounding for low frequency signals but prevents the RF broadband data signals from being grounded. The second port and the drain coil are protected from power surges by a protective device connected in parallel to the drain coil. The coupling device is inexpensive to manufacture, essentially maintenance free, and easy to install.
