Patent number: 11400079Abstract: Bromine induced lactamization of vinyl acetohydroxamates facilitated syntheses of monocyclic ?-lactams suitable for incorporation of a thiomethyl and extended functionality at the C(4) position. Elaboration of the resulting substituted N-hydroxy-2-azetidinones allowed incorporation of functionalized ?-amino substituents appropriate for enhancement of antibiotic activity. Evaluation of antibacterial activity against a panel of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria revealed structure-activity-relationships (SAR) and identification of potent new monobactam antibiotics. The corresponding bis-catechol conjugate, 42, has excellent activity against Gram-negative bacteria including carbapenemase and carbacephalosporinase producing strains of Acinetobacter baumannii which have been listed by the WHO as being of critical concern worldwide.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 2018Date of Patent: August 2, 2022Assignee: University of Notre Dame du LacInventors: Marvin J. Miller, Serena Carosso, Rui Liu, Patricia Miller

Patent number: 11194924Abstract: A system includes profile control circuitry that may receive a sovereign onboarding command. The sovereign onboarding command may be issued on behalf of a sovereign associated with a profile. The sovereign onboarding command may update a status value in the profile. The profile may be recorded on a data-tamper-protected distributed ledger. Arbitration circuitry may review the recorded profile status value and ensure that status values are enforced against the sovereign during exchanges.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 2020Date of Patent: December 7, 2021Assignee: ACCENTURE GLOBAL SOLUTIONS LIMITEDInventors: Patricia A. Miller, Scott W. Perkins, Shane R. Marshall, Peter Bidewell, Rodrigo Yukio Ieto

Patent number: 9302012Abstract: An artificial tris-catecolate siderophore with a tripodal backbone and its conjugates with ampicillin and amoxicillin were synthesized. Both conjugates exhibited significantly enhanced in vitro antibacterial activities against Gram-negative species compared to the parent drugs, especially against P. aeruginosa. The conjugates appear to be assimilated by an induced bacterial iron transport process as their activities were inversely related to iron concentration. The easily synthesized tris-catecolate siderophores can be used with a variety of drugs as conjugates to target antibiotic-resistant Gram-negative bacteria.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 2013Date of Patent: April 5, 2016Assignee: UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME DU LACInventors: Marvin J. Miller, Cheng Ji, Patricia A. Miller
