  • Patent number: 9204870
Abstract: A surgical device and method for the retracting, maneuvering, and re-positioning of tissue and/or a body organ during endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures. The surgical apparatus comprises at least one separable grasping device with a detachable head, and an exteriorly-operated handle mechanism, or puppet handle. The disclosed device enables a physician, using a plurality of lengths of sutures simultaneously connected to (a) stems of the exteriorly exposed puppet handle and (b) the detachable head, positioned at clasping points on the organ, to rearrange the orientation of tissue or the organ for better accessibility, analysis, and/or exposure to accompanying surgical instruments in situ. The method presented minimizes the number of bodily incisions required to perform surgery by means of endoscope or laparoscopic equipment.

Abstract: A surgical device and method for the retracting, maneuvering, and re-positioning of tissue and/or a body organ during endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures. The surgical apparatus comprises a separable grasping device with a detachable head, an exteriorly-operated handle mechanism, surgical needles, and lengths of suture. The disclosed device enables a physician, using a plurality of lengths of sutures simultaneously connected to (a) the exteriorly exposed handle mechanism and (b) the detachable head, positioned at clasping points on the organ, to rearrange the orientation of tissue or the organ for better accessibility, analysis, and/or exposure to accompanying surgical instruments in situ. • Publication number: 20070174781
Abstract: A parameter visualization method and apparatus are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method includes processing a selection of a parameter based on an action associated with one parameter, algorithmically calculating compatibility of other parameters based on the selection, and simultaneously displaying at least one allowable parameter (e.g., of the other parameters) in a first visual state and displaying at least one excluded parameter (e.g., of the other parameters) in a second visual state. The parameter and the other parameters may be displayed in a graphical representation, and the graphical representation may be refreshed when another selection is processed based on an action (e.g., the action may a movement of a pointing device over the graphical representation of the parameter, a data input into an attribute field and/or a physical selection by the pointing device, etc.). The action may be associated with the at least one allowable parameter.

  • Patent number: 6412827
Abstract: A QCD coupling in which a rotating subsidiary locking means is provided which is both positive in its locking action, locks all of the levers simultaneously, and does not involve any small or readily losable parts, as the subsidiary locking means is itself securely attached to the coupler part of the QCD coupling. As all of the levers are locked simultaneously, the subsidiary locking means cannot be locked unless all of the levers are in the fully “locked” position.

  • Patent number: 5794128
Abstract: Realistic models and processes for simulation of wireless information transport systems are provided which replicate all time and frequency dynamics effects on stationary and mobile communications systems. The preferred embodiment is a realsitic modeling apparatus for simulation of wireless information transport systems comprising a data entry module, a communications traffic selection module, a driver database, and voice and data input modules furnishing a simulation input to a network simulation module. The network simulation module having communications realism effects, a DIS structure, a channel error-burst model to transmit random errors, and a multipath modeling module to integrate deterministic and stochastic effects.

  • Patent number: 5196647
Abstract: The invention comprises a device and method for forcibly opening a locked door. A sealed chamber is adapted to sealably receive the barrel of conventional firearm. A piston in the sealed chamber is connected to a ramming plate. A blank cartridge is placed in the firearm and detonated, pressurizing the chamber and forcing the ramming plate against the exterior of the door with great force and speed. After the piston moves a predetermined distance, the chamber is vented and a spring returns the piston and ramming plate to their original position. The procedure may be rapidly repeated as many times as may be necessary to force the door open.
