  • Patent number: 9450812
Abstract: The user interface of a mobile computing device is used to configure a target system by establishing a physical connection between a mobile computing device and a target system, such as an audio cable connection between audio jacks of the two or an acoustic coupling through air between a microphones and speakers of the two; establishing an audio or low ultrasonic signal communication session between the two; responsive to the target system entering a configuration mode, prompting a user via the user interface of the mobile computing device to prepare configuration parameter values for the target system; and implementing the configuration parameter values in the target system using the communication session and the physical connection.

  • Patent number: 7636382
Abstract: A technique for receiving an error state in a single chip sequence in a wireless communications network is disclosed. The error state may comprise a Viterbi error state. The error state may be identified as a target code encoded in the single chip sequence, the target code comprising either a code or the complement of the code. The code may comprise a PN-Code. The error state may be identified using a previous mapping of error states from a set of error states to a group of codes, the group of codes comprising a plurality of codes and their complements. The error states in the set of error states in the previous mapping may be uniquely mapped to plurality of codes and their complements in the group of codes.

  • Patent number: 6825728
Abstract: A method for generating parameters for adjusting the frequency of a VCO. A desired carrier frequency may be based off the output of the VCO. The method determines parameters that are operable to adjust the frequency of the VCO, based on the channel number. The channel number may be input into combinatorial logic to determine the parameters. Offsets, which may be scaled, may be added to the channel number before determining the parameters, wherein the frequency of the VCO is further adjusted based on the offset(s). A first parameter may be operable to select a frequency scalar in a circuit with the VCO. A second parameter may be operable to generate a feedback signal for adjusting the frequency of the VCO.

  • Patent number: 6434187
Abstract: A method for radiofrequency (RF) transmission of digital information includes generating an RF signal using a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO), stabilizing the RF signal from the VCO by providing an error signal from a phase-locked loop (PLL) to an input of the VCO, and combining the digital information with the error signal of the PLL input to the VCO, thereby causing variations in frequency of the RF signal from the VCO that represent the digital information. Apparatus for RF transmission of digital information includes a VCO, the VCO arranged to generate an RF signal, a PLL, the frequency input of the PLL coupled to the RF signal output of the VCO, an encoder, the encoder arranged to convert the digital information into a form where it has a data rate faster than a response time of the PLL, and a coupler, the coupler coupling both the error signal output of the PLL and the encoded digital information to an input of the VCO.

  • Patent number: 5991830
Abstract: A system for allowing a peripheral device to be inserted directly into a port of a computer system while the computer system is powered on. The insertion of a peripheral device into the computer system port is automatically detected, and a configuration operation is automatically performed when insertion of the peripheral device is detected. The system also allows a plurality of peripheral devices to be connected to a single port of a computer system by automatically determining the number of peripheral devices and assigning a unique address to each of the peripheral devices. The peripheral device may have a host port for communicating with the computer system, a slave port for connecting to a slave device, and a device manager which identifies if a slave device is connected.
