  • Patent number: 4510559
Abstract: A lamp and filter mounting assembly includes a lamp holder with a lamp mounting plate and a back wall for pivotal mounting to a bracket. The back wall of the lamp holder includes an inclined adjustment stop that engages the bracket upon rotation of the lamp holder through a predetermined angle. The assembly also includes a filter holder with side rails and a filter stop to hold a filter. The side rails include extensions that overlie the lamp holder to provide a sliding attachment to the lamp holder. The bracket is secured to an aperture pan that is rotatably mounted within a trim assembly. A light shield is secured to the aperture pan and surrounds the lamp holder.

  • Patent number: 4475147
Abstract: A "wall wash" assembly for use with a ceiling mounted, recessed lighting fixture comprising a reflector housing having an open end, includes a ring member dimensioned for receipt in the open end of the reflector housing. A concentric ring segment is mounted on the ring member for movement 360.degree. thereabout. An auxiliary reflector is mounted on the ring segment for movement therewith. Positioning of the auxiliary reflector by movement of the ring segment with respect to the ring member provides a desired "wall wash" illumination pattern. An optional baffle member is receivable on the ring member opposite the auxiliary reflector for blocking light emanating from the reflector housing to be excluded in the "wall wash" illumination pattern.

  • Patent number: 4450512
Abstract: An arrangement for mounting a thermal protective device including a case in which there is mounted a temperature sensitive element, in a lighting fixture adapted for recessed mounting in a ceiling support surface, includes a receptacle dimensioned for receipt of the thermal protective device. The receptacle is mounted on the interior surface of the side wall of the recess mounted housing of the lighting fixture. The housing side wall defines an aperture predeterminedly located therein with which the temperature sensitive element is aligned for sensing the temperature of the area adjacent the exterior surface of the housing side wall. The receptacle includes fingers for biasing the thermal protective device into engagement with the interior surface of the housing side wall. The receptacle is constructed of reflective material to reflect heat emanating from the lamp of the lighting fixture away from the thermal protective device.

  • Patent number: 4314223
Abstract: A thermal protective device for interrupting current to the lamp circuit of an electrical lighting fixture when the temperature at a preselected location in the fixture reaches a predetermined level, comprises a receptacle including a pair of female terminals coupled electrically to the lamp circuit. A normally open switch having a movable contact arm with a hooked end portion is coupled to one of the terminals to maintain the lamp circuit normally open. A plug adapted for joinder with the receptacle includes a pair of male terminals arranged for receipt by the female terminals of the receptacle. A thermal protector included in the plug is operable from a closed to an open condition when the temperature reaches the aforesaid predetermined level. The thermal protector is connected electrically across the male terminals. An actuator and latch arm extending from the plug is received in the receptacle upon joinder of the receptacle and plug.

  • Patent number: 4293895
Abstract: An arrangement for the recessed mounting of an enclosed light fixture housing having an open end with a flange formed about the periphery thereof in an aperture defined in a planar member, such as a ceiling, includes a slotted aperture defined in the side wall of the housing with ratchet teeth formed therealong adjacent the slotted aperture, a support frame mounted behind the ceiling and including an aperture dimensioned similarily to and aligned with the aperture in the ceiling and a resilient mounting clip attached to the support frame and extending into the aperture. The free end of the mounting clip is dimensioned for receipt in the slotted aperture of the housing side wall upon insertion of the housing into the aligned ceiling and support frame apertures. Shoulder portions adjacent the free end of the clip engage the ratchet teeth to removably lock the housing in position in the ceiling.

  • Patent number: 4250540
Abstract: An arrangement for mounting an enclosed light fixture housing having an open end with a flange formed about the periphery thereof, in recessed fashion in an aperture defined in a planar support member having inner and outer surfaces, with the flange of the housing engaging the outer surface, includes a side wall of the housing defining a T-shaped slotted aperture with the longer leg of the T extending from the shorter leg toward the open end of the housing, and having ratchet teeth formed along an edge of the longer leg of the T, and a mounting clip receivable in the slotted aperture from the interior of the housing after the housing is received in the aperture in the support member. The mounting clip is captured in the slotted aperture and slidable toward and away from the inner surface of the support member.
