  • Publication number: 20170075025
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for scanning an item utilizing an X-ray scanner in order to facilitate a determination of whether the X-ray radiation penetrated through the entirety of the scanned item. Various embodiments comprise a conveying mechanism, an X-ray emitter, a detector, and an X-ray penetration grid (XPG). The XPG may comprise a radiopaque grid that may serve as a reference for determining whether radiation passes through the scanned item, the grid oriented such that the grid members are neither parallel nor perpendicular to the direction of travel. Such orientation may minimize or eliminate “ghosted” radiation signals included in a visual display of the radiation received by the detector. A scanned item may be oriented with the XPG such that radiation emitted by the X-ray emitter that passes through a portion of the scanned item must also pass through the XPG before being received by the detector.

  • Patent number: 9556837
Abstract: A fuel pump module for installation between top and bottom walls of a fuel tank. The housing defines a space accommodating a pump. The fuel pump module includes a mounting component coupled to the housing. The mounting component includes a first surface, a second surface opposite the first surface and facing the housing, a first end, and a second end opposite the first end. The mounting component and the housing are joined with a spring-loaded coupling such that the mounting component is urged away from the housing. The mounting component further includes a U-shaped recess that is concave on the first side of the mounting component. The bottom side of the housing forms a first distal end of the fuel pump module for engaging the bottom wall. The first surface of the mounting component forms a second distal end of the fuel pump module for engaging the top wall.

  • Publication number: 20160343193
Abstract: A vending machine roller dispensing mechanism supported at each end by apertures which permit fast and easy roller installation and removal. Bottles and cans are held in in tiers in compartments defined between stacking walls with a plurality of spaced apart ramps or flanges adjacent a bottom edge of one of a pair of a compartment walls. The ramps or flanges cooperate with the adjacent roller to permit the dispensing of a bottle or can one at a time in a controlled and positive manner as the roller is driven through a plurality of specific degrees of rotation. A spacer can be used in the roller to provide upward pressure on the bottles in the roller and then on the second tier bottles as well easing capture of the lower most bottles in a stack.

  • Publication number: 20160284319
Abstract: A display apparatus and method are provided for at least partially compensating for undesirable image degradation arising from the processing of a generated image prior to display at a viewing surface, such as a combiner. The degradation is such that a viewer perceives a reduction in contrast ratio of a portion of the image content appearing in one or more regions of the field of view of the display, for example against an external scene being viewed through the combiner. In the invention, control means are provided to at least partially compensate for the reduction in contrast ratio by decreasing the resolution of the portion of the generated image content intended for display in the region of perceived reduced contrast ratio prior to input to the processing function.
