  • Patent number: 7126103
Abstract: A night vision system including an image intensifier receiving light. A current detector monitors current at the image intensifier. A data filter is coupled to the current detector and determines if the received light includes coded light pulses matching a predetermined code. A controller is coupled to the data filter. The controller alters a parameter of the night vision system if the received light includes coded light pulses matching a predetermined code.

  • Patent number: 7030486
Abstract: This invention relates to a high density architecture for an integrated circuit package (10) in which a plurality of circuit communication wafers (12) are disposed in a stack with a plurality of cooling plates (14) between them, and wherein circuit communication between the communication wafers (12) is provided from wafer to wafer through the cooling plates (14). In addition, the communication wafers (12) may have integrated circuit chips (18) deposited on both sides of the wafer, and chip-to-chip communication may be provided from one surface of the wafer to another through the wafer. The resulting integrated circuit package may have any desired geometrical shape and will permit heat exchange, power and data exchange to occur in three generally mutually orthogonal directions through the package.

  • Patent number: 6311621
Abstract: A shock-resistant electronic circuit assembly (10) is provided in which an electronic circuit is encased in an encapsulation (14) that engages a surrounding enclosure (18) in shock-dispersing contact therewith. The encapsulation may have a plurality of edges (16, 16a, 16b), fins (24) or bosses (70) that bear against the enclosure. The encapsulation may include a shock-absorbing material (14f) disposed against the enclosure to protect the circuit against vibrations and a structural support material such as a casing (14e) to protect the circuit against stress. The circuit assembly (10) may be part of a sheathed initiator assembly (55) that includes a transfer member (58) for converting shock wave energy into electrical energy for the electronic circuit, and the released energy may be converted into a detonation initiation signal. Assembly (55) may be part of a detonator (100) that receives a non-electric initiation signal and detonates following the delay determined by the electronic circuit.

Abstract: A shock-resistant electronic circuit assembly (10) is provided in which an electronic circuit is encased in an encapsulation (14) that engages a surrounding enclosure (18, 22) in shock-dispersing contact therewith. The encapsulation may have a plurality of edges (16, 16a, 16b), fins (24) or bosses (70) that bear against the enclosure. The encapsulation may include a shock-absorbing material (14f) disposed against the enclosure to protect the circuit against vibrations and a structural support material (14e) to protect the circuit against stress. The circuit assembly (10) may contain a capacitor (34) for storing an electrical signal and timing circuitry for releasing the stored energy after a predetermined delay. The circuit assembly (10) may be part of a transducer-circuit assembly (55) that includes a transducer module (58) for converting shock wave energy into electrical energy for the electronic circuit, and the released energy may be converted into a detonation initiation signal.

  • Patent number: 5929368
Abstract: An electronic delay circuit (10) for use in a detonator (100) has a switching circuit (20) and a timer circuit (22). Switching circuit (20) controls the flow of a stored charge of electrical energy from a storage capacitor (12) to a bridge initiation element such as a semiconductor bridge (18) or a tungsten bridge. The timing of the release of this energy is controlled by timer circuit (22). Switching circuit (20) is an integrated, dielectrically isolated, bipolar CMOS (DI BiCMOS) circuit, whereas timer circuit (22) is a conventional CMOS circuit. The use of a DI BiCMOS switching circuit allows for greater efficiency of energy transfer from the storage capacitor (12) to the semiconductor bridge (18) than has previously been attained.

  • Patent number: 5733784
Abstract: Whole blood is mixed with a reticulocyte reagent system that has a reticulocyte staining reagent and a diluent reagent, used in combination. This mixture is incubated at room temperature for between about 15 minutes to about 4 hours. The incubated mixture is then analyzed and the light scattering properties of the cells are detected, collected, differentiated and quantitized. Data gathering includes, at least, 10 and 90 degree light scatter detection.

  • Patent number: 5510267
Abstract: A lytic agent is described which when mixed with whole blood, lyses the red cells instantly, but does not affect the optical, light scattering properties of the white blood cells for at least 30 seconds. This lytic agent enables the performance of a five part leukocyte differential by flow cytometry and light scattering. In its preferred embodiment, the lytic agent incorporates 2-phenoxyethanol which combines the functions of leukoprotective and antimicrobial, TRITON X-100 (octylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol) a lytic and wetting agent and TRIS/HCl to provide pH buffering and to increase the solution's conductivity.

  • Patent number: 4743836
Abstract: A capacitance pressure measuring circuit includes a pressure sensitive capacitive transducer and a reference capacitor that are configured in a differential mode to alternately charge and discharge in response to square wave signals. An integrator receives signals from the capacitors and outputs two voltage levels. These voltage levels are provided to a synchronous clock driven selectable sample and hold stage and then to a differential amplifier. The amplifier provides a linear voltage signal proportional to the change in the difference in capacitance of the transducer divided by the capacitance of the integrator.
