  • Patent number: 10843670
Abstract: A work machine includes a power generator configured to generate power to propel the machine, a brake system, an operator seat, one or more sensors, and a controller. The operator seat is rotatably mounted to the machine. The one or more sensors are configured to generate one or more signals indicative of an orientation of the operator seat relative to a direction of travel of the machine. The controller is coupled to the machine and communicatively coupled to the one or more sensors. The controller is configured to determine that the operator seat is out of alignment with the direction of travel based on the one or more signals and automatically actuate the brake system if the operator seat is out of alignment with the direction of travel for more than a first threshold time.

  • Publication number: 20150232139
Abstract: A hitch system between a first portion and a second portion of a machine includes a first frame with the first portion and a second frame with the second portion. A first axis is disposed along the machine's length and second axis along the machine's height. A link rotatably connects to the first frame at a first ball joint portion and the second frame at a second ball joint portion. A handlebar with the first frame includes a third ball joint portion, which is co-axial with the first axis and the second axis, and to which a coupler link is rotatably connected. • Patent number: 6080088
Abstract: The apparatus converts reciprocating motion of a rowing type exercise into single direction rotational motion of a shaft in a predetermined direction. A reciprocable arm of a rowing type exercise is pivotally mounted to a frame. A shaft, set for rotation in the frame has first and second one way clutches. First and second racks are mounted with respect to the reciprocable arm and engage one or the other of the one way clutches for driving the shaft in a predetermined direction of rotation as the arms are reciprocated. One or the other clutches freewheels against its respective rack when one of the racks is moved in to drive the shaft and thereby retains the driving rack in engagement with its respective one way clutch.

  • Patent number: 5465615
Abstract: A loading assembly that permits a lateral force to be applied parallel to an axis of a vehicle spindle includes a support frame and a wheel adapter housing mounted to the vehicle spindle. A loading member is pivotally joined to the support frame at a position spaced apart from the wheel adapter housing on the axis of the spindle. A plurality of spaced apart struts connects the loading member to the wheel adapter housing. An actuator applies a selected force to the loading member, which is transferred as a lateral force to the vehicle spindle. In a first embodiment, an adjustable coupling is provided between the actuator and the loading member to emulate a rolling radius of a tire assembly mounted to the vehicle spindle. In a second embodiment, a second loading member is operably connected to the first-mentioned loading member. A second actuator applies a force to the second loading member to apply a selected moment to the vehicle spindle.

  • Patent number: 5241856
Abstract: A road simulator for testing components of automobiles using a wheel assembly, including a tire that is to be loaded by simulation of actual road forces. A low mass flexible web harness is placed over the tire and has web extensions loaded in tension in at least one lateral direction for simulating forces transmitted to the tire at the tire patch without having any substantial mass applied to the tire. High strength, low mass webs are used for the loading link and harness, such as a nylon, Aramid fibers , or carbon filament materials. The harness permits simulating very closely the actual friction forces on a tire, particularly in relation to lateral direction loading without having test fixture mass affect the test.

  • Patent number: 4912957
Abstract: A straightening press of the type wherein a workpiece is supported for deflection in a given direction by an anvil engageable with the workpiece. A reference spring is supported for deflection with the reference spring supports being serially interconnected with the anvil. In a preferred embodiment, a floating bridge carries the anvil and reference spring supports. Deflecting force applied to the reference spring, as by a ram, is transmitted to the workpiece via the floating bridge. A change in the differential displacement of the ram and floating bridge is detected to determine the onset of plastic deformation of the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4627772
Abstract: A wood carving attachment that mounts onto a table saw provides a carriage for holding a pattern, and a workpiece that will be engaged by the circular saw blade to duplicate the pattern configuration on the workpiece. The pattern and workpiece are mounted on opposite ends of a carriage that pivots about an rocker axis generally parallel to the axis of rotation of the saw blade, and also is movable in direction along the axis and at the same time the pattern and the workpiece are both rotated about axes generally parallel to the rotational axis of the saw blade. A tracer wheel riding against the pattern will cause the carriage to be tilted about its rocker axis of the support as the pattern is moved along the rocker axis and rotated against the follower wheel so that by movement of the carriage the surface configuration of the pattern is duplicated by the saw blade engaging the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4509910
Abstract: A clamp assembly for selectively clamping a movable cross-head assembly to each column of a press having a plurality of columns. The clamp assembly includes an inner clamp sleeve positioned concentrically about each column. The inner clamp sleeve is slidably longitudinal with respect to the column and has an inner generally cylindrical surface for engaging the column. An outer clamp sleeve is secured to the cross-head assembly concentrically about the inner clamp sleeve. The inner and outer clamp sleeves are threadeably secured together to limit longitudinal movement of one clamp sleeve with respect to the other. Although threaded together, there is sufficient clearance between the opposing threads of the inner and outer clamp sleeves to define a helical chamber therebetween. A hydraulic fluid system is provided for selectively introducing pressurized hydraulic fluid into the helical chamber.

  • Patent number: 4501139
Abstract: A test system uses the four square principle for loading front wheel drive units of automobiles under torque, and provides the necessary loads on the front wheel drive unit for adequate testing. The unit under test may be subjected to "steering" loads; to torque; to axial loads; and to "jounce" which simulates vertical loads on front wheel drives of automobiles caused by road irregularities, holes or other obstacles. The present device permits application of all of these loads into four separate front-wheel drive-steering units for efficient testing. The mechanical configuration insures the ability to precisely control the loads in the various modes of operation.

  • Patent number: 4498940
Abstract: A plate glass repair apparatus comprises a plate member that has an outer peripheral seal and can be held onto the surface of the plate glass to be repaired with vacuum generated from a self contained hand operated vacuum pump mounted on the plate. The plate is made so that the plate surface is forced down against the glass in locations sufficient to prevent the glass from being over stressed and for securely holding the tool in position. A cup like cutter for cutting a circular hole in the glass is positioned adjacent one corner of the plate and has a separate seal surrounding the cutter to form a chamber. Cutting fluid, such as water, is provided to flow from the outside of the cup like cutter toward the interior, where it is exhausted during the cutting operation. The cutter device for repairing plate glass is put into position over a break that is to be removed for plugging. Prior to cutting a backing plug is placed on the opposite face of the glass where the plug will be cut from the glass.
