  • Patent number: 9068031
Abstract: The present invention relates to a reactor (10) and a process for continuous polymerization, where the reactor (10) has an essentially tubular reactor housing (16). The reactor housing (16) has a drive (38) which runs along the geometric central axis (12) in the flow direction (22) and is configured as a central shaft. A rotatably arranged scraper or wiper (36) is provided within the reactor housing (16); the scraper or wiper (36) has at least one scraper or wiper blade (42) to run along an interior side (44) of the reactor housing (16). The rotational movement of the scraper or wiper (36) results in radial mixing of a stream within the reactor housing (16) which dominates gravity effects and, by virtue of shaping of the scrapers or wipers, optionally makes plug flow or a loop flow or backflow within the reactor (10) or else via an additional external pumped circulation system (23) possible.

  • Patent number: 8905681
Abstract: A pneumatic conveying process transports plastic pellets from a manufacturing source to a bulk silo for storage before being delivered to the ultimate production utilization of the plastic pellets. Multiple types or multiple sources of plastic pellets can be fed through a common pneumatic conveying conduit to respective bulk silos for temporary storage with diverter valves being utilized to direct product into and out of the common conveying conduit. Expanded elbow fittings are deployed at each directional change in the conveying lines to eliminate the creation of streamers at conduit bends. The plastic pellets are conveyed at a medium velocity between dense and dilute phases to provide a gentle conveying operation. A closed loop air supply system is used for dedusting devices providing a final removal of dust and debris from the stored product before being delivered to the ultimate utilization facility.

  • Patent number: 8857622
Abstract: A cylindrical dedusting apparatus has an upper material infeed opening to introduce material into a frusto-conical infeed hopper centered over the tip of a conical wash deck supported over an air infeed conduit. Air is blown through slots and openings in the surface of the wash deck to separate dust and debris from the particulate material. The dust-laden air is discharged by passing between the infeed hopper and a cylindrical sleeve to enter into a circular collector for discharge from the apparatus. Flow rate of material over the wash deck is adjusted by vertically moving the infeed hopper within the sleeve relative to the wash deck, the tip serving as a stopper to define the dimension of the gap through which material flows onto the wash deck. Cleaned material passes through a lower discharge opening while dirty air is removed through a radially oriented discharge conduit from the circular collector.

  • Patent number: 8833563
Abstract: A dedusting apparatus is formed with back-to-back wash decks sloped downwardly and outwardly from a central inlet opening through which contaminated particulate material in directed onto the wash decks. The wash decks terminate at discharge edges from which particulate material enters a Venturi zone outwardly from each wash deck. The housing for the dedusting apparatus includes a pair of laterally spaced outlet ports located below the respective Venturi zones for the collection of cleaned particulate material simultaneously with identical or different collection devices such that the discharge outlets are offset laterally from the central inlet opening. The discharge ends of the wash decks are supported by an angularly disposed support leg. The air manifold directs air into the apparatus through a central opening from which the air passes through openings in the two sloped wash decks and past the discharge edges of the wash decks to create the Venturi zones.

  • Patent number: 8800777
Abstract: A cylindrical dedusting apparatus has an upper material infeed opening to introduce material into a frusto-conical infeed hopper centered over the tip of a conical wash deck supported over an air infeed conduit. Air is blown through slots and openings in the surface of the wash deck to separate dust and debris from the particulate material. The dust-laden air is discharged by passing between the infeed hopper and a cylindrical sleeve to enter into a circular collector for discharge from the apparatus. Flow rate of material over the wash deck is adjusted by vertically moving the infeed hopper within the sleeve relative to the wash deck to vary the dimension of the gap through which material flows onto the wash deck. A closed loop air system can be used with the cylindrical dedusting apparatus with a bleed air module that reduces air flow into the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 8795182
Abstract: Switching is provided in a transducer array of medical diagnostic ultrasound imaging. The switching controls the formation of macro elements or aperture for scanning a plane or volume. The switches are implemented with one or more transistors. The control causes the gates of the transistor to float during the “on” connection. While on, the switch connects, allowing ultrasound signals to pass through the switch.
