  • Patent number: 10129883
Abstract: Techniques for spread spectrum wireless over non-contiguous channels are described. In at least some embodiments, a set of channels is selected for wireless communication, with at least some of the channels being non-contiguous (e.g., non-adjacent) from one another. A spreading sequence is selected, such as based on attributes of a selected set of channels. Communication data that is to be transmitted over the set of channels is combined with the spreading sequence to generate a spread spectrum signal. The spread spectrum signal is then divided into multiple sub-signals for transmission over the set of channels.

  • Publication number: 20180291863
Abstract: An igniter, such as a corona igniter for an internal combustion engine, and a method of manufacturing the igniter, are provided. The igniter includes an insulator with enlarged upper and lower end regions extending axially beyond opposite ends of a constrained, reduced diameter region of a shell through passage. The enlarged lower end region of the insulator is disposed axially outwardly of a lower end of the shell. The insulator is hermetically sealed to the shell and is permanently fixed against being removed axially outwardly from the shell. The method can include conforming the shell to the contour of the insulator by plastically deforming the shell, or casting the shell about the insulator. Alternatively, separate pieces of metal can be disposed around the insulator to form the shell which is conformed to the insulator.

  • Patent number: 10096207
Abstract: A kiosk for gaming by patrons. An identification scanner may scan an identification document into digital form. A biological sensor such as a camera may obtain biological data describing a human patron. Input-output device(s) mounted in the kiosk may present information and accept registration/login information and gaming commands from a human patron. A currency acceptor and dispenser may accept money. The kiosk may ask a patron to insert an identification document into the identification scanner, and scan the document. The kiosk may obtain biological data describing the patron. The kiosk may verify the identity of the patron and acceptability of the patron for gaming based at least in part on the digital form of the patron's identification and the biological data. • Publication number: 20180283352
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a method for preventing a tower strike of a tower of a wind turbine by a rotor blade thereof. The method includes mounting a plurality of sensors circumferentially around the tower at a height generally aligning with a blade tip of the rotor blade in a rotor plane as the blade tip passes through a six o'clock position. Further, the method includes generating, via one or more of the plurality of sensors, at least one distance signal representative of a distance between the blade tip of the rotor blade and the tower as the rotor blade passes by one or more of the sensors. Thus, the method also includes implementing, via a wind turbine controller, a corrective action if the distance signal exceeds a predetermined threshold.

  • Patent number: 10075576
Abstract: A system and method to access a machine through a mobile device includes sending a machine key to a controller on-board the machine, and a mobile device key to the mobile device using a remote server. The mobile device sends a mobile device ID to the controller. The controller determines the mobile device key based on the mobile device ID and the machine key. The controller sends a random number to the mobile device. The mobile device processes the random number to derive a first processed random number, and sends the first processed random number to the controller. The controller processes the random number to derive a second processed random number. The controller enables a start button to send a request to start the machine, when the first processed random number matches the second processed random number. The controller starts the machine upon receiving the request to start the machine.
