    Abstract: A fluid pressure regulator includes a cylinder fixed within a cavity, a sealing disc carried at the closed end of the cylinder, and a piston displaceable within the cylinder, the interior of the cylinder being vented to the atmosphere. The piston is of larger cross-sectional area than the sealing disc and has a stem of smaller cross-sectional area than, and passing through, the sealing disc. The stem carries a valve member movable by the displacement of the piston, from a fully open position towards and away from a flow control opening to control the flow therethrough to the housing outlet.

    Abstract: A pulsator device includes a water chamber having a small inlet orifice for inletting pressurized water at a relatively low rate in a continuous manner, and a large outlet orifice. An outlet valve assembly controls the large outlet orifice to open it at a relatively high chamber pressure and to close it at a relatively low chamber pressure. The outlet orifice is one end of a hollow stem passing through a wall of the water chamber. The outlet valve assembly includes an expansible/contractible control chamber and a valve member effective, in the normal expanded condition of the control chamber, to close the one end of the hollow stem, and in the contracted condition of the control chamber to open the one end of the hollow stem, and thereby to output pulses of pressurized water through the hollow stem.

    Abstract: A quick-action shut-off value includes a valve member normally urged by the inlet pressure to close a valve seat, a movable carrier member normally urged towards the valve seat by a biassing spring, but moved away from the valve seat by the inlet pressure, and a lost-motion connection between the valve member and carrier member effective, when the carrier member and the valve member are in their initially closed positions with respect to the valve seat and the inlet pressure increases, to permit the inlet pressure initially to move the carrier member away from the valve seat while the valve member is held to the valve seat by the inlet pressure, until the lost-motion connection is taken-up, whereupon the carrier member moves the valve member away from the valve seat to open the valve.

The flow control device includes two assemblies each including one of the flow-control members and a spring between the two assemblies and effective: (a) in the presence of pressurized fluid at the inlet fitting to move the two flow-control members to an operative position with respect to each other to control the flow of the fluid from the inlet fitting into the housing; and (b) in the absence of pressurized fluid at the inlet fitting to move the two flow-control members to an inoperative position away from each other, and thereby to produce a self-flushing of the flow-control device by the pressurized fluid in the housing.

    Abstract: An automatic shut-off valve having a lower closing pressure than an opening pressure comprises a housing having a partition formed with a valve opening connecting the inlet to the outlet, a valve member movable in the outlet side of the partition to an open or closed position with respect to the valve opening, and a piston movable in the outlet side of the partition independently of the valve member and defining a chamber with the valve member. The piston is urged by a spring tending to close the valve member against the force of inlet pressure. The piston is formed with a passageway establishing communication between the engine chamber and the housing outlet, and has a larger cross-sectional area than the valve member, such that the valve member opens the valve opening at a predetermined inlet pressure and closes the valve opening at a lower inlet pressure.

The rotor is formed with a bore for accommodating the axially-flowing jet, and is further formed on its surface facing the jet-impinging member with at least one channel extending generally in the radial direction, effective to constrain the water reflected back towards the nozzle face to form at least one laterally-flowing jet, and to rotate the rotor so as to rotate the laterally-flowing jet.

    Abstract: A filter device comprises a central tube, a housing enclosing the central tube and defining an internal chamber therewith, and a filter body within the internal chamber. The central tube includes a plug between the inlet and outlet which directs the fluid to flow from the inlet through the filter body and out through the outlet. The housing and filter body are mounted for sliding movement axially of the central tube from a normal filtering position wherein the housing inlet communicates with the upstream side of the filter body, to a back-flushing position wherein the inlet communicates with the downstream side of at least a portion of the filter body. The housing may also include a valve member moved therewith under differential pressure between the housing inlet and outlet to regulate the pressure at the outlet.

    Abstract: A pulse-irrigation system comprises a pressurized water supply line supplying water in a continuous, non-interrupted manner, a water irrigation device, and a pulsating device for converting the pressurized water of the line to the pulsating output when supplied to the irrigation device. The pulsator device comprises an inlet orifice of restricted cross-sectional area, an outlet orifice of substantially larger cross-sectional area, and a valve which is normally closed, automatically opens at a predetermined opening pressure lower than that of the inlet pressure to connect its inlet to its outlet, and automatically closes at a predetermined closing pressure lower than its opening pressure. The pulsator device further includes a reservoir for the fluid and located between the inlet orifice and the valve such that when the valve is closed the reservoir fills up and at the same time builds up pressure until the valve opens to discharge the fluid within the reservoir.

    Abstract: A flow regulator comprises a housing having a passageway for a fluid flowing therethrough from its inlet to its outlet; a resilient sealing member circumscribing the inlet to the passageway; and a flow regulator member overlying the passageway inlet and spaced therefrom by a plurality of axially-extending teeth carried by the flow regulator member. The teeth are spaced circumferentially around the passageway inlet and are engageable at their outer edges with the resilient sealing member such as to define flow paths in the spaces between the teeth. The flow regulator member is movable axially of the passageway in response to the difference in pressure on its opposite faces to press the teeth to different depths into the resilient sealing member and thereby to regulate the flow through the flow paths by varying the dimensions of the spaces between the teeth.
