  • Patent number: 7068052
Abstract: A method for testing a cathodic protection system is disclosed where the system includes a cathodic protection rectifier configured to apply a voltage across a pipeline and a reference point. The method includes measuring a magnitude of an output voltage of the cathodic protection rectifier, transmitting to a site remote from the rectifier, the measured output voltage magnitude using a cellular control channel, receiving the transmitted measurement at the remote site, and using the transmitted measurement to determine whether the cathodic protection system is operational.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 22, 2004
Date of Patent: June 27, 2006
    Assignee: NTG, Inc.
Inventors: Thomas N. Hilleary, Perry B. Peden, Jr.

  • Patent number: 5315253
Abstract: Method and apparatus for measuring the voltage and state of charge of a secondary battery. The voltage and state of charge values are taken by a circuit every four (4) seconds by reading voltage, waiting two (2) seconds, reading current, waiting two (2) seconds, and repeating the voltage readings and the current readings. The circuit includes a 4-bit microprocessor, CMOS analog switches, and two operational amplifiers. The voltage and current readings are taken from dual-sloped converters, and the values determined by software algorithms in the microprocessor.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 28, 1992
Date of Patent: May 24, 1994
    Assignee: Alexander Manufacturing Company
Inventors: Richard B. Alexandres, Dennis P. Kindschuh, Larry Hall, Perry B. Peden, Larry Klusman, Steve Potratz
