  • Patent number: 6902561
Abstract: A method and system for improved material processing using a laser beam. The method and system includes directing a laser beam above, at or below the surface of the material in one or more preferred patterns and with preferred laser pulse characteristics specific to the material to reduce or mitigate the accumulation or effects of gas, debris, fluid, or other by-products of photodisruption either at the location where additional laser pulses are being placed or in other sensitive locations in the material.

  • Publication number: 20040228013
Abstract: A closed-loop focusing system and method positions a focusing assembly to a desired positioned. A feedback positioning device, such as a linear encoder, provides an actual or “read” value for the linear movement of the focusing assembly. The desired position is compared to the actual position of the focusing assembly. If the two values are outside of a predetermined tolerance or valid range, then an audible or visual warning will be given. When a laser source is utilized with the focusing system, laser operation will be prevented if the two values are outside of an acceptable range. However, if the difference between the desired position and the actual position are within an acceptable range, the focusing assembly is repositioned to allow real-time systematic correction of the position of the focusing assembly.

  • Patent number: 6687236
Abstract: A method is described concerning echo suppression in connections from a terminal to an automatic machine in a communications network. The communications network contains echo control devices that can be requested if required and that can be inserted on the basis of predetermined criteria during the established connection in order to suppress echo signals arising therein. In the corresponding switching nodes to which the automatic machines are connected, a comparison is made between the signal propagation time vlz of the connection from the terminal to the automatic machine and the value of the echo propagation time compensation elk of an echo control device optionally available in the automatic machine or an echo control device assigned to the automatic machine after a connection has been established between the terminal and the automatic machine.

  • Patent number: 6671361
Abstract: A telecommunications system containing a plurality of local and transit exchanges in which signaling and traffic data are routed between remote exchanges via a network service having routing code recalculation is described. The system is adapted to provide an ISDN end-to-end supplementary service between two subscribers in which a subscriber access code is generated by modification of a called subscriber routing code, used by the calling subscriber local exchange. The local exchanges that have an applications service element for providing the ISDN supplementary service, include a mechanism to trigger a query, which is sent to a translation device whenever the supplementary service is requested and a subscriber routing code is detected. The subscriber access code returned from the translation device is forwarded to the applications service element, which, will establish an end-to-end dialogue with it's counterpart at the called subscriber local exchange and provide the ISDN supplementary service.

  • Publication number: 20030185222
Abstract: A media gateway is disclosed in the figure, which is inserted between a line-switching network and in particular connecting network and a packet-switching network. Voice and data services in the speech tape like fax/modem connections are controlled by this media gateway. A sound detection function is proposed for the setting of the size of the jitter buffer, which carries out a setting of the jitter buffer size for each connection in direction to the line-switching network and in particular connecting network by the control, depending from the determined service. The mentioned additional sound detection function indicates a disabling sound of an echo suppressing function integrated in a media gateway in a preferred design of execution.

  • Publication number: 20020193704
Abstract: A method, system and apparatus for computer-controlled photodisruption of tissue of the eye is provided. Instrument software is implemented on a computer-based laser system to control operation of the laser system and provide managed, secured control of photodisruption procedures. The instrument software is configured for the display of an image of a patient's eye within a graphical user interface of the instrument software. Parameters for both horizontal and vertical resections are selectable by the user of the instrument software. The parameters are used to control procedures for the photodisruption of tissue of the eye. In addition to the performance of photodisruption procedures, the instrument software provides for maintenance, security, calibration, and error monitoring functions.

  • Patent number: 4066112
Abstract: An automobile-tire snow chain comprises running chain sections connected between a closed outer annular maintaining chain and an open inner maintaining chain. A long chain section is connected at one end to a first ring on one end of the inner chain and is looped through a second ring on the other end of the inner chain and through the first ring, so that the inner chain can be closed by pulling on the long chain section to tighten the loop. This long chain section includes a running chain portion which passes over the tire and is secured to a buckle on the outer annular chain, the free end of the long chain section being threaded about the outer annular chain and secured by a tensioning spring and a buckle.
