Publication number: 20240259571Abstract: An apparatus for remote processing of raw image data receives the raw image data from a camera, such as a security camera. The apparatus includes a detection module to detect portions of the image data that contain possible regions of interest. Information indicating the portions that contain the possible regions of interest is then used during a compression process so that the portions that contain the possible regions of interest are compressed using one or more compression algorithms to facilitate further analysis and the remainder are treated differently. The compressed image data is then transmitted to a central system for decompression and further analysis. In some cases, the detection system may detect possible regions of interest which appear to be faces, but without performing full facial recognition. These parts of the image data are then compressed in such a way as to maintain as much facial detail as possible, so as to facilitate the facial recognition when it is carried out at the central server.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 8, 2024Publication date: August 1, 2024Applicant: Synaptics IncorporatedInventors: Sebastian Matysik, Peter Burgers

Patent number: 11188489Abstract: A method of configuring a Universal Serial Bus (USB) connection between a first and second devices, the USB connection comprising a plurality of data channels, each having a pair of signal links, each signal link including a port at either end of the connection, and a signal wire formed of one or more physical wires extending between corresponding ports. Each of the signal links are configured with a first direction for transmission of data. The first direction is determined based on an initial required data transmission capacity in each direction between the first and second devices. Thereafter, depending on required capacity in the different directions, a selection is made which of the signal links should change their direction of transmission from the first direction to a second direction and a redirection signal is sent to each of the selected signal links to cause the change in direction of transmission.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2019Date of Patent: November 30, 2021Assignee: DISPLAYLINK (UK) LIMITEDInventors: Daniel Ellis, Peter Burgers, Richard Jonathan Petrie

Patent number: 4538852Abstract: In draft deflectors for motor cars with a folding roof which include transversely extending members, such as a roof cross-member. The draft deflectors are formed on safety padding elements, such as frame padding or headrests associated with the interior of the vehicle, or as parts of the padding which, mounted so as to be pivotal about transverse axes of the vehicle, may be opened out from a rest position into an operating position.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 1983Date of Patent: September 3, 1985Assignee: Ford Motor CompanyInventors: Claude Lobo, Peter Burger

Patent number: 4051459Abstract: A typewriting/document editing system includes a signal encoding keyboard for serially entering alphanumeric and control key information characterizing a document being typed into one track of a plural track magnetic storage tape under central processor-stored program control. Each storage record includes an assembled processed line of text augmented by administrative character fields. When document editing is required, all changes (e.g., deletions, insertions, substitutions, text relocations, and the like) are entered on a batched basis in an edit tape track. The stored text records are then marked with appropriate change descriptions ("Pass 1" operation), and the marked information and edit tape tracks compiled to form the desired revised text which is stored on a second tape ("Pass 2" operation). The revised text may thereafter be derived as desired by automated power typing.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 1974Date of Patent: September 27, 1977Assignee: Editext Word Processing, Inc.Inventors: James Joseph Steranko, Gerardo Rogoff, Randall Dean Scott, Angela Frances Gallagher, Peter Burger
