  • Publication number: 20010042607
Abstract: To produce a thermally highly loaded casting (1, 14, 16, 17) of a thermal turbomachine which is produced using a known casting process, the casting mold is produced from a slurry using a wax model and a polymer foam which is fixed to the wax model or has been introduced into a cavity. In this way, during the casting process the liquid superalloy also penetrates into the open-cell structure of the casting mold, so that an integral cooling structure (7) is formed during the solidification of the casting (1, 14, 16, 17). A single-crystal or directionally solidified casting (1, 14, 16, 17) is advantageously produced. It is also conceivable to vary the cell size of the polymer foam, to produce cooling structure (7) and base material separately and to coat the cooling structure (7) with a ceramic protective layer (thermal barrier coating) (11).

  • Patent number: 5649084
Abstract: In a method for performing Boolean operations on geometric objects to generate a modified geometric object in a computer-aided design system, a face of a first object and a face of a second object are intersected to generate graph edges which form edges of the modified geometric object. Edges of the first object are intersected with surfaces of the second object to produce intersection points, and surfaces containing the faces of the two objects, respectively, are intersected with each other to produce intersection tracks. If there is an inconsistency between the intersection points and corresponding intersection tracks, i.e., if intersection points which should ideally lie on an intersection track are more than a resolution value (epsilon) apart, a perturbation step is applied to correct the spatial positions of inconsistent intersection points. The perturbation step comprises moving the inconsistent points along edges to a position where geometric consistency is established.

  • Patent number: 5537856
Abstract: A flow restriction detector for a nozzle assembly of a liquid dispensing machine is capable of detecting a blocked or partially blocked nozzle during the cleaning of the nozzle assembly. During nozzle cleaning, a return plate is attached to the nozzle plate of the nozzle assembly to receive a flow of pressurized fluid from the nozzles. Both the inlet and return fluid lines are provided with pressure sensors, and the return line has a constant back pressure applied to it so that the differential between the inlet and return line pressure sensors is in the range 5-10 psi. The pressure differential is monitored during cleaning and from one cleaning to the next for the purpose of identifying a blocked or partially blocked nozzle. A change of as little as 5% from the pressure differential value established for an unblocked system may indicate a partial blockage of a nozzle.
