  • Patent number: 6070990
Abstract: A card light assembly comprising a generally flat polymeric tray having inner and outer surfaces and a pair of ends, a peripheral rim on the inner surface, an electrochemical cell-receiving recess in the inner surface, and a LED-receiving recess at one of the ends, an annular electrical separator and a disc-type electrochemical cell in the cell receiving recess, a LED in said LED-receiving recess, the LED having two leads, one of which is in abutment with the cell and the other of which is spaced from the cell by the separator. A pressure sensitive adhesive label extends over the inner surface, and over the cell, and is adhered to the housing inner surface to thereby retain the separator and cell within the assembly. At least one of the tray and label is flexibly depressible at the separator and cell for pressing the other lead against the cell to temporarily energize the LED.

  • Patent number: 6006393
Abstract: An improved coating tool (20) is provided with a variable flexible connection between a head and handle. The improved tool broadly includes a head (22), a handle (23), a flexible connection (21) between the head and handle to permit relative pivotal movement therebetween, and a restraining member (24) operatively arranged to adjustably limit the amount of relative movement between the head and handle, whereby the amount of permissible relative movement between the head and handle may be selectively varied. In the preferred form, the restraining member (24) may vary the flexibility of the connection.

  • Patent number: 6004003
Abstract: A portable lighting device according to the present invention includes a battery housing, a light source supported at a first end of the battery housing, and a shroud extending outward from the first end of the battery housing circumferentially around the light source. The shroud is preferably formed of a translucent material having a partially-reflective inner surface for reflecting a portion of incident light emitted from the light source in a forward direction while allowing a portion of the incident light to be transmitted through the shroud and dispersed in peripheral directions. The shroud further preferably includes a diffusing outer surface for diffusing the incident light that is transmitted through the shroud. A shroud is preferably integrally formed with a collar portion as used for threading the integrated head structure onto the battery housing. Additionally, a protective lens cover that may include a collimating lens is also integrally formed in this head structure.

  • Patent number: 5963999
Abstract: A multi-purpose folding tool which features inwardly tapered handles to provide external plier jaw storage, thereby leaving greater room for supplemental tool storage inside the handles, a box-beam handle construction for greater strength, downwardly opening handles to facilitate ease of use, a unique supplemental tool locking and release mechanism, and laminated plier jaws which are riveted together for even greater strength and overall integrity.

  • Patent number: 5944407
Abstract: An illumination device functioning as both a flashlight and an area table lamp having a flexible neck that connects a light housing to a base. The illumination device includes at least one light source mounted in the light housing for projecting light through either a diffusing lens to function as an area light or a projecting lens to function as a flashlight. An improved flexible neck for an illumination device is also disclosed that has a dampening mechanism and a retaining mechanism disposed in an elongated solid resilient body. The retaining mechanism counters the resilient force of the resilient body to retain a selected position of the flexible neck while the dampening mechanism serves to dampen a bouncing effect that commonly occurs in flexible necks of flashlights.

  • Patent number: 5944352
Abstract: A notebook binder device having a first and second member. The first member having a front cover section. The front cover section having a central opening defining a window. The first member includes a connecting fold. The second member having a transparent, see through, cover and a back. When the first and second members are connected the back is viewed through the window and the transparent middle cover section. The second member includes a connecting fold suitable for connecting the connecting fold of the first member and for connecting the transparent cover section. Rivets and other connecting devices are adapted to connect the first and second members. Additionally, the rivets include male and female paper holding members for holding papers between the front and back covers.

  • Patent number: 5806961
Abstract: A rechargeable flashlight having a nightlight is provided comprising in combination a housing, a rechargeable power supply within the housing, first and second lamp assemblies disposed within said housing, a rotating electrical connector attached to the housing to selectively interconnect the rechargeable power supply to an AC power source to recharge the battery. The rotating connector also connecting the second lamp assembly to the rechargeable power supply. In a second position, the rotating electrical connector is disconnected from the rechargeable power supply and interrupts the power to the second lamp assembly.
