  • Publication number: 20100266801
Abstract: A non-laminated low-emissivity window film includes a flexible polymeric substrate having a first surface and an opposed second surface. A metal-adhesion promoting layer is disposed on the first surface, a reflective metal layer is disposed on the metal adhesion-promoting layer, and a transparent polycarbonate coating is disposed on the metal layer. The window film can have an emissivity of about 0.27 to about 0.33 and a visible light transmission of at least about 17 percent.

  • Patent number: 5402265
Abstract: A flexible fog free mirror device for contact attachment and support on a planar surface is disclosed. A three-layered structure includes a first film sheet having an organic coating of anti-fog material on one side. The other side of the sheet has an adhesive coating for laminating the sheet to a first side of a second film sheet. The second side of the second sheet has a reflective metal coating for providing a mirrored finish. The reflective metal coating is laminated to a first side of a cling vinyl film sheet. The vinyl sheet enables the three-layer structure to contact adhere to the planar surface. In an alternate embodiment, a two-layered structure includes the first film sheet and the second film sheet for releasable attachment to an existing mirrored surface. The first film sheet has the organic coating of anti-fog material coated on the one side, the other side of which is coated with a pressure sensitive adhesive.

  • Patent number: 4797317
Abstract: A flexible, composite solar control sheet for use on a motor vehicle window has a vignette pattern in the film area above the driver's sight line that, in its darkest area, transmits less than 45% (preferably 10:30%) of visible light, and reflects less than 35% of the visible light; the composite having a first polymeric stratum of oriented polyethylene terephthalate (PET) to a surface of which is applied, by conventional vacuum deposition, a vignette layer of a suitable metal, e.g.

  • Patent number: 4634637
Abstract: To a sheet of oriented polyethylene terephthalate a layer of nickel chrome alloy with an optical density of approximately 60% is applied by conventional vacuum deposition. To this sheet a subsequent stripe layer of stainless steel at 35% is applied by vacuum deposition down the center portion of the web which yields a combined optical density of approximately 21% over the center area. This first sheet is then laminated with a suitable optically clear adhesive to a second sheet of oriented polyethylene terephthalate incorporating a center portion which includes a nickel chrome stripe with an optical density of approximately 35% applied by conventional vacuum deposition. The resulting composite exhibits a vignette pattern of dark (optical density 7 to 12%) to light optical density 50 to 70% (from center to edge). A suitable optically clear mounting adhesive is then applied. When desired, the finished laminate contains a layer of clear PET which has been coated with a hard coat, i.e.
