  • Publication number: 20180353139
Abstract: A method is provided for generating a medical data set of a moving part of the human or animal body undergoing a cyclical movement such as cardiac movement. A raw data signal acquired by a magnetic resonance receiver coil arrangement is received. A magnetic resonance signal and a movement signal are separated from the raw data signal. At least two physiological phases of the moving body part are automatically assigned to the movement signal. The automatic assignment does not introduce a delay between the movement signal and the magnetic resonance signal. Time points used for triggering an acquisition of the magnetic resonance signal and/or for data post-processing of the magnetic resonance signal are determined or set.

  • Publication number: 20180335497
Abstract: In a magnetic resonance method and apparatus for time-of-flight vascular imaging, a magnetic field is applied to an imaging volume and an inflow volume, from which liquid enters into the imaging volume, of an examination person. The imaging volume is excited by an RF pulse, which fulfills a magnetization transfer function and a fat saturation function, while the magnetic field is being applied. The RF pulse has a frequency distribution whose frequencies are higher than the center frequency of water in the imaging volume, and that includes the fat frequency in the imaging volume. The magnetic field has a field distribution with an apex with essentially no spatial gradient in the imaging volume and having a higher spatial gradient in the inflow volume, so that the center frequency of water in the inflow volume is shifted in the direction of lower frequencies and is no longer affected by the RF pulse.

  • Patent number: 10114097
Abstract: In a method for operating a medical imaging examination apparatus having multiple subsystems, current ambient conditions in a scan volume of the apparatus are determined and stored in a global ambient condition parameter set. A control computer starts a scan sequence according to a selected scan protocol, and sequence control data that define different functional sub-sequences for the respective subsystems are provided to the control computer. Different effective volumes are assigned to each functional sub-sequence, and respective current sub-regions in the effective volume associated with the respective sub-sequence are determined, in which a volume optimization is to take place. Control signals for the scan sequence are calculated using the sequence control data, the global ambient condition parameter set, and the determined current sub-regions of the affected volumes, in order to optimize the functional sub-sequences at least with regard to the current sub-region of the assigned effective volume.

  • Patent number: 10101425
Abstract: In a method for operating a medical imaging apparatus having subsystems, a control protocol assigned to a scan sequence to be performed is provided to a control computer that determines sequence control data for the control protocol, which define different functional subsequences of the scan sequence. Different effective volumes are assigned to each functional subsequence, and current ambient conditions of the apparatus are determined for the sequence control data and associated effective volumes, for a series of states of physiological processes that occur during the scan sequence. Control signals for the scan sequence are determined from the sequence control data, the effective volumes and the current ambient conditions per observed state, that optimize the functional subsequences of the scan sequence locally.

  • Patent number: 9684982
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for performing isotropic reconstruction of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) data includes receiving a stack of slices acquired by an MRI device in two or more directions and reslicing the stack of slices into (i) an acquired view stack comprising high-resolution slices acquired in-plane, and (ii) a reslice stack comprising degraded slices acquired out of plane. An estimated slice profile is generated based on the stack of slices and the acquired view stack is convolved with the estimated slice profile to yield a simulated distorted slice stack. The simulated distorted slice stack is subtracted from the acquired view stack to yield a high-frequency band estimate and the high-frequency band estimate is combined with the reslice stack to yield isotropic reconstruction results.

  • Patent number: 9684979
Abstract: A method of magnetic resonance (MR) imaging of a volume undergoing repetitive motion includes obtaining source slice data indicative of a plurality of source slices during the repetitive motion, and obtaining anchor slice data indicative of an anchor slice during the repetitive motion. The anchor slice intersects the plurality of source slices. The source slice data and the anchor slice data are reconstructed. A three-dimensional image assembly procedure is implemented to generate, for each phase of the repetitive motion, volume data based on a respective subset of the reconstructed source slice data. For each phase of the repetitive motion, the respective subset of slices is selected based on a correlation of the source slice data and the anchor slice data along an intersection between each source slice and the anchor slice. The source slice data of the selected subset is corrected for misalignment with the anchor slice data.
