  • Publication number: 20130307790
Abstract: Systems and techniques for controlling a device using contacts with a touch sensitive surface, with contacts being analyzed to determine if they represent incidental contacts or deliberate inputs. Upon recognition of a contact to a touch sensitive surface of a device, the contact is analyzed to determine if it meets at least one criterion for recognition as an input. Criteria may include location of the contact, as well as characteristics of the contact or a pattern of which the contact is a part. When a contact is recognized as indicating a deliberate input, user feedback may be provided, indicating to a user that the input was successful or allowing the user to be informed in time to abort or counteract the input.

  • Publication number: 20100182263
Abstract: An assembly for a terminal device, the assembly comprises a frame; a panel operable to receive a haptic user input; a member pivotally connected to the frame to define two or more pivot axes and supporting the panel at locations distinct from the pivot axes, the member being arranged in such a way that the length of a part of the member connecting points on the two pivot axes varies in response to the haptic user input, and such that the panel is displaced relative to the frame as said length varies, and a force sensor operable to detect a haptic input applied to the panel. It also includes a transducer, for instance a piezo actuator, operable to provide a tactile feedback to the user through the panel.

  • Patent number: 7667186
Abstract: A system and method for accurately determining the positioning of a lens system. The lens system includes a lens and a mono-color light reflecting surface. A position sensor includes a light source and a light detector. An initial signal is sent from the light source to the monor-color light reflecting surface. The light reflecting surface reflects the initial signal to the light detector at a reflection region. The intensity of the reflected signal is dependent upon the distance between the reflection region and the position sensor, which is variable. An electrical output signal is generated based upon the reflected signal from the light source, with the electrical output signal providing positioning information for the lens system.

  • Publication number: 20090309982
Abstract: An optical image stabilizer for use in a camera to compensate for an unwanted movement of camera, wherein two bending actuators are used to shift a lens element or the image sensor in different directions in a plane so as to shift a projected image on the image sensor in response to the unwanted camera movement. The plane is substantially perpendicular to the optical axis of camera, and longitudinal axis of each bending actuator is substantially parallel to the optical axis. The actuator can be fixedly mounted on one end so that the other end is allowed to bend. The actuator can be fixedly mounted on both ends so that the middle section is allowed to bend. Alternatively, the middle section is fixedly mounted and both ends can be used for shifting an imaging component.

  • Publication number: 20090219434
Abstract: In a camera where the lens is movable along the optical axis relative to the image sensor for auto-focus or zooming purposes, the lens is moved by a carrier having a carrier portion adjacent to a fixed body portion of the camera. A reflection surface is provided on either the carrier portion or the body portion. A photo-emitter and sensor pair is disposed on the other portion to illuminate the reflection surface and to detect the reflected light therefrom. The reflection surface is provided near the edge of a surface such that the light cone emitted by the photo-emitter partly hits the reflection surface and partly falls beyond the edge. As the lens is moved relative to the body portion, the area on the reflection surface illuminated by the photo-emitter changes causing a change in the amount of detected light.

  • Publication number: 20090219547
Abstract: In a camera where the lens or image sensor is laterally moved in a carrier to shift the image for compensating for unwanted camera movement, a reflection surface is used to reflect light, and a photo-emitter/sensor pair is used to illuminate the reflection surface and to detect reflected light therefrom. Reflection surface is provided near the edge of one carrier section e and photo-emitter/sensor pair is disposed on another carrier section. These sections are movable relative to each other for imaging shifting purposes. The photo-emitter/sensor pair is positioned such that the light cone emitted by the photo-emitter partly hits the V reflection surface and partly falls beyond the edge. As the photo-emitter/sensor pair and the reflection surface move relative to each other, the area on the reflection surface illuminated by the photo-emitter changes causing a change in the amount of detected light.

  • Publication number: 20090122406
Abstract: An optical image stabilizer is used to compensate for an unwanted movement of an imaging system, such as a camera. The camera has a folded optics system using a triangular prism to fold the optical axis. Two actuators are used to rotate the prism around two axes in order to compensate for the yaw motion and pitch motion of the camera. The prism can be mounted on a gimballed system or joint and two actuators are operatively connected to the gimballed system in order to rotate the prism. Alternatively, the folded optics system uses a mirror to fold the optical axis, and two motors are used to rotate the prism.

  • Publication number: 20080280657
Abstract: A user interface seal and actuator assembly including an electrical feedback actuator adapted to provide movement when energized; and an overmolded seal. The overmolded seal is overmolded on the feedback actuator to form an overmolded sealing engagement and attachment with the feedback actuator. The assembly is adapted to provide a seal between two components of a user interface. The feedback actuator is adapted to move a first one of the components relative to a second one of the components.
