  • Patent number: 4687390
Abstract: Apparatus for scribe engraving a workpiece with a miniature representation of a two-dimensional pattern in response to movement of a stylus following the pattern includes a spherically rotatable member having a frusto-spherical surface rotatably retained within a frusto-spherical bearing race remote from the pattern and having a passageway therethrough axially skew to the pattern, where the scribe extends fixedly from the spherically rotatable member for movement unitarily with the rotatable member, including means for connecting the rotatable member with the stylus so that the rotatable member rotates in response to stylus movement following the pattern where the connecting means is selectably disengageable from the rotatable member.

  • Patent number: 4591304
Abstract: Apparatus for scribe engraving a workpiece with a two dimensional miniature representation of a pattern followed by a stylus includes a stylus moveable within a two dimensional pattern, a base supporting the pattern, a sleeve receiving the stylus and extending upwardly therefrom with the stylus protruding from the sleeve, a spring biasing the stylus outwardly of the sleeve, a beam above the base including a bearing seat, a spherically rotatable pivot member residing on the bearing seat, a scribe connected to the pivot member and moving unitarily with the pivot member and a tube telescopingly connecting the sleeve with the pivot member for rotation of the pivot member in the seat in response to movement of the stylus following the pattern.

  • Patent number: 4406567
Abstract: Apparatus for engraving has a work piece support adjacent to scribing means for engraving inidicia on the work piece. A stylus moves a pivotal support to which scribing means is attached. Front-writing is achieved by positioning the scribing means above the stylus but below the pivot of the pivotal support. Scribing means concurrently engrave a plurality of work pieces from a single stylus. The work piece support is movable up and down, towards and away from the scribing means. The distance between the pivotal support and the stylus is adjustable. Vibratory means connected to the pivotal support vibrate the scribing means when the scribing means contacts the work piece. Identification means for dentures is provided.

  • Patent number: 4254552
Abstract: An inscribing system that is electronically automated for transcribing onto miniature carriers character information which will positively identify the human, animal or valuable article in which the carrier is embedded. The automated inscribing system includes a microprocessor with memory and a plurality of peripheral interface adapters for interfacing between the microprocessor and other elements of the system. In the operation of the system, the character or characters to be inscribed on the carrier are selected from a keyboard which calls into operation the microprocessor program, and which thereby converts the designated character electrical signal received from the keyboard into a coded pulse train which operates stepping motors in an inscribing assembly for the inscription of the selected character or characters on the carrier chip surface. Also, display means are provided for the visual disclosure of the character or characters inscribed on the carrier chip.

  • Patent number: 4168586
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for assisting in the identification of valuable articles which comprises selecting a carrier, transcribing information as to the identity of the valuable on the carrier, and fixing the carrier to a portion of the valuable. The structure includes a miniaturized carrier of relatively innert material and having identifying intelligence thereon, wherein the carrier is adapted to be fixed or otherwise embedded in the valuable article.

  • Patent number: RE30594
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method to assist in the identification of a living body which comprises selecting a carrier, transcribing information as to the identity of the body on the carrier, and fixing the carrier to a hard mineralized portion of the body. The structure includes a miniaturized carrier of relatively inert material and having identifying intelligence thereon, wherein the carrier is adapted to be fixed or otherwise embedded on hard mineralized tissue of the body.
