  • Publication number: 20030129983
Abstract: In a communication network comprising at least one access point and having a wireless part comprising at least first and second mobile stations, when the first and second mobile stations enter into communication through the access point, the access point broadcasts a message of creation of a temporary sub-network, constituted by the first and second mobile stations, in which the first mobile station is in direct communication with the second mobile station, said creation message containing an evaluation of the overall quality of service of the communication network before the creation of said sub-network.

  • Publication number: 20020065859
Abstract: According to one aspect of the invention, estimation of symbols related to each other by a parity relationship previously created by an encoder, is effected by a function having several components effecting a calculation of probabilities corresponding to a state of the encoder. The probabilities are of a first type, resulting from the observation of the effects of the previous states of the encoder on the current state, of a second type, resulting from the observation of the effects of the subsequent states of the encoder on the current state, and of a third type, representing the belonging of a symbol to a predetermined part of an encoding alphabet. A specific multiplexer is controlled by a state machine and cooperates with a calculator so that not only the probabilities of the first and second types but also the probabilities of the third type are obtained by one and the same circuit.

  • Publication number: 20020041640
Abstract: In order to evaluate the noise related to data issuing from a turbo encoder: estimates of the noise related to its systematic output, to the data issuing from its first elementary encoder and to the data issuing from its second elementary encoder are determined (70); at least two of the estimates of the noise related to the systematic output, to the data issuing from the first encoder, and to the data issuing from the second encoder, are added (72); the results of these additions are divided (74) by the number of augends added, and then inverted (76), so as to obtain a noise factor; and the noise factor is multiplied with the data issuing from at least one of the first encoder, second encoder and systematic output.

  • Patent number: 5574404
Abstract: A galvanic isolation device having a light-emitting diode and a photo-transistor. A control circuit, which is coupled to the light-emitting diode and which controls the light-emitting diode, is provided. A signal generator circuit, which is coupled to the photo-transistor, is also provided. The signal generator circuit includes a fixed-gain amplifier circuit that is coupled to a current path formed by a collector electrode and an emitter electrode of the photo-transistor. A biasing circuit, which is coupled to a base electrode of the photo-transistor, biases the photo-transistor into a saturated state.

  • Patent number: 5506868
Abstract: Circuitry is described for providing a telephone line interface circuit of a MODEM for a computer with an AC impedance and DC voltage/current characteristics required by a given type telephone network such that the telephone line interface circuit can be matchingly connected with the given type telephone network. The given type telephone network provides an identification code representative of the required AC impedance and DC voltage/current characteristics. The circuitry comprises a plurality of impedance components that, when connected to the telephone line interface circuit, determine the AC impedance and DC voltage/current characteristics of the telephone line interface circuit. A plurality of terminals are coupled to receive a plurality of control signals associated with the identification code.

  • Patent number: 5387135
Abstract: A special purpose modular receptacle comprises a generally rectangular housing having an opening which exposes a cavity within the housing. A plurality of electrical contacts are disposed within the cavity of the housing. Terminal ends of the contacts electrically connect to corresponding contacts on a standard modular connector or a modified modular connector inserted into the cavity. The contacts are exposed at a lower rear portion of the housing allowing connection between the contacts and a printed circuit board. Attachment means allow physical and electrical connection of the housing to a printed circuit board. A guiding means may be present as a modular connector insertion aid.

  • Patent number: 5382182
Abstract: A special purpose modular connector comprising a generally rectangular housing having a central body portion and two extending side arm portions. A plurality of electrical contacts are disposed within the body and arm portions. Slots at a front end of each portion of the housing expose a terminal end of each electrical contact. Openings in the rear portions of the housing allow connection of cables or other types of component wiring to the contacts. A locking tab is formed at the underside of the housing and functions to align and securely connect the special purpose modular connector with a correspondingly modified receptacle.
