Publication number: 20220291979Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for enabling transaction processing utilizing a single device. A mobile device can store an application comprising first and second software modules. One module may execute acceptance processing while another software module may emulate a transaction device associated with a user. One or more identifiers (e.g., QR codes, bar codes) may be obtained corresponding to one or more physical items. Authorization may be requested via the mobile device. In response, data may be exchanged between the software modules and this data (e.g., transaction data, a payment token, a cryptogram, etc.) may be provided to a remote computer (e.g., a cloud based acceptance service) that can generate an authorization request message for the transaction.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 10, 2020Publication date: September 15, 2022Inventors: Philippe Martin, Marc Kekicheff, Yuexi Chen

Patent number: 11349425Abstract: A method and device estimate an amplitude of a periodic component in a measured analog signal, e.g. from an electric motor, and adapt a control law for an external entity, e.g., a variable speed drive (VSD) controlling the motor, based on the estimated amplitude. The measured analog signal is converted by delta-sigma modulation to a digital signal that is applied to at least one filter. Periodic signals of independent known periodic functions are also applied to the at least one filter. In response, the at least one filter provides the estimated amplitude of the periodic component in the measured analog signal that may be used to adapt the control law. A monitoring value for the electric motor may also be based on the estimated amplitude of the periodic component.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 2020Date of Patent: May 31, 2022Assignee: Schneider Toshiba Inverter Europe SASInventors: Pascal Combes, Dilshad Surroop, Philippe Martin, Pierre Rouchon

Patent number: 11264935Abstract: A variable speed drive comprises an output for delivering a drive voltage to an electric motor, power inverter, a drive controller, and a current sensor. The drive controller includes a PWM generator, a control law module, and a state variable estimator for estimating a state variable of the electric motor. The module computes a target voltage signal based on state variable estimates provided by the estimator and outputs the target voltage signal to the PWM generator. The generator approximates the target voltage signal with a PWM control signal, controls the inverter using the control signal, computes, based on the deviation between the control signal and the target voltage signal, an estimation support signal, and outputs the estimation support signal to the estimator. The estimator estimates a state variable of the motor based on the estimation support signal and the drive current, and outputs the estimate to the module.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2020Date of Patent: March 1, 2022Assignee: Schneider Toshiba Inverter Europe SASInventors: Pascal Combes, Dilshad Surroop, Philippe Martin, Pierre Rouchon

Patent number: 11180637Abstract: Described herein are polyphenylene sulfide (“PPS”) polymer compositions including a low MFR PPS polymer and E-CR glass fibers. It was surprisingly discovered that the PPS polymer compositions had significantly improved retention of tensile strength and tensile elongation after water aging (“water aging performance”), relative to corresponding PPS polymer compositions having E glass fibers instead of the E-CR glass fibers. Moreover, it was also discovered that PPS polymer compositions including E-CR glass fibers in conjunction with a low MFR PPS polymer and a high MFR PPS polymer had unexpected synergies with respect to water aging performance, relative to corresponding polymer compositions including E-CR glass fibers and either a low MFR PPS polymer or a high MFR PPS. Due at least in part to the improved water aging performance, the PPS polymer compositions can be advantageously incorporated into application settings where the polymer composition is in contact with water.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 2018Date of Patent: November 23, 2021Assignee: Solvay Specialty Polymers USA, LLCInventors: Emmanuel Anim-Danso, Alessandro Bongiovanni, Philippe Martin

Patent number: 10885509Abstract: A bridge device acts as a link between generic wireless protocols of mobile devices and available communication components of access devices. The bridge device can be an attachment to existing access devices and enables a transaction using any available communication components on an access device and a bridge device mobile application on a mobile device. The bridge device notifies the mobile device which communication components are available for the transaction. The mobile device then sends a selection of a communication component to the bridge device. To conduct the transaction, the bridge device converts data received from the mobile device and sends it to the access device using a protocol compatible with the selected communication component. The bridge device also converts data received from the access device and sends it to the mobile device using a generic wireless protocol supported by the mobile device.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2015Date of Patent: January 5, 2021Assignee: VISA INTERNATIONAL SERVICE ASSOCIATIONInventors: Yuexi Chen, Mustafa Top, Philippe Martin

Publication number: 20200137573Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are directed to enabling access transaction systems to accept different communication protocols. In some embodiment, an access device receives, from a portable device, an indication that a transaction is to be performed by exchanging transaction information between the portable device and a remote computer, wherein the remote computer is configured to communicate using a first communication protocol. Next, the access device determines that the portable device is configured to communicate using a second communication protocol. The access device then converts communications between the portable device and the remote computer from the second communication protocol to the first communication protocol to assist the portable device and the remote computer in exchanging the transaction information.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 19, 2019Publication date: April 30, 2020Inventors: Yuexi Chen, Marc Kekicheff, Philippe Martin

Patent number: 10613849Abstract: A device updating system may store data from an application to be updated, especially personalization data that is to be persisted beyond the version update. After the data is stored, the application may be deleted and a migration application is installed. The migration application may use a matrix or the like characterizing differences between prior editions of the application and the one being installed. The migration application may determine the previous edition and updates the personalization data according to the matrix. After the data is updated, the migration application may be deleted and the new application installed. The new application may retrieve the updated data and may be ready to operate without concern about what the previous edition may have been. Memory space may be conserved by not requiring the new application to carry the version matrix and all possible changes between the current edition and all possible previous editions.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 2016Date of Patent: April 7, 2020Assignee: VISA INTERNATIONAL SERVICE ASSOCIATIONInventors: Kiushan Pirzadeh, Philippe Martin, Michael Lindbeck, Yuexi Chen, Marc Kekicheff
