  • Patent number: 7529162
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for the demodulation of the ADIP data of a wobble signal of an optical recording medium, whereby the wobble signal is modulated using two different methods, and to an apparatus for reading from and/or writing to optical recording media using such method. According to the invention, the method comprises the steps of recovering the carrier of the wobble signal, demodulating the wobble signal based on the recovered carrier, and providing a two-dimensional MSK filter for detecting MSK marks in the wobble signal.

  • Patent number: 7436740
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a device for detecting the type of wobble on an optical recording medium. According to the invention, a programmable digitally tuned oscillator is provided for detecting the wobble at different frequencies and the wobble signal is converted to the base band. Favorably the consistency of the phase of the wobble together with the amplitude of the wobble is used for verifying the presence of the wobble. For this purpose a Cartesian to Polar converter is provided.

  • Publication number: 20070109929
Abstract: The present invention relates to a full-digital implementation of a differential phase detector and to an interpolator for such a differential phase detector. According to the invention a differential phase detector for generating a tracking error signal from the digitized signals (A, B, C, D) of four photodetectors, having a multiplexer for time multiplexing the digitized signals (A, B, C, D), includes a demultiplexer/interpolator for synchronizing the samples from the time multiplexed digitized signals (A, B, C, D). The demultiplexer/interpolator favorably receives a four signal time multiplex and generates four channels at half the speed of the time multiplex.

  • Patent number: 7218583
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for recovering land pre-pits from a signal obtained from an optical recording medium. According to the invention, the method comprises the steps of: providing a phase locked loop for the land pre-pit signal for the accurate measurement of the phase of the land pre-pits, and generating a corrected wobble signal for rejecting wobble beats.

  • Publication number: 20060179095
Abstract: The invention relates to an asynchronous sample rate converter (ASRC) for the conversion of the sample rate of digital data such as audio data or video data. In the case of high over-sampling or sub-sampling factors an ASRC becomes quite complex. It is an object of the invention to provide an ASRC with a simplified design for such purposes. It is suggested to use an ASRC which has a n-tap polyphase filter, whereby a computational entity performs a polynomial computation of the filter coefficients. The attenuation at the notch frequencies is best when using a Parzen window or a quadratic window.

  • Patent number: 6208760
Abstract: In a method of furnishing output motion vectors (MV′), motion vectors (MV) are retrieved (DEC) from an encoded image signal (MPEG), and the retrieved motion vectors (MV) are post-processed to obtain the output motion vectors (MV′). The post-processing includes generating (CVG) candidate motion vectors, and selecting (CVS) the output motion vectors (MV′) in dependence upon the candidate motion vectors and the retrieved motion vectors (MV).
