  • Patent number: 10383011
Abstract: Small base station, micro, femto or pico BTS (PBS) are connected via Un interface to a donor eNB DeNB. In case of a handover from that PBS packets that had not been acknowledged by a UE need to be forwarded to the target base station. Forwarding them via Un and DeNB to the target eNB causes latency and wast radio resources on Un. Thus, the DeNB uses information about the handover to buffer packets and, after being informed by PBS, forward those packets that had not been acknowledged by the UE. This procedure, therefore, saves resources on Un interface and reduces latency. No forwarding of those packets from PBS to DeNB is required. There is provided a method for forwarding data to a wireless terminal. The method is performed by a proxy node. The method comprises receiving data on a link between a core network and a backhaul hub node. The data is addressed to a wireless terminal served by, or handed over from, a serving network node.

  • Publication number: 20190239132
Abstract: A radio access network comprises a first radio access node and a second radio access node. On determining that a first UE that is served by the first radio access node should start relaying through a second UE, it is determined whether the second UE is served by the first radio access node. In response to determining that the second UE is served not by the first radio access node but by the second radio access node, a handover is initiated, such that the first and second UEs are served by the same radio access node.

The method is performed in a network element of a wireless communication network. The method comprises differentiating (2710) between synchronous network functions and asynchronous network functions. The synchronous and asynchronous network functions are associated with the provision of communication services to the wireless device. The synchronous network functions have requirements on processing timing which are strictly dependent on timing of a radio link used for communicating with the wireless device. The asynchronous network functions have requirements on processing timing not strictly dependent on the timing of the radio link. The method also comprises allocating (2720) resources of the wireless communication network for the instantiation of a first network function based on whether the first network function is synchronous or asynchronous.

  • Publication number: 20190045352
Abstract: Handling of UE capability information in a mobile telecommunications network wherein an eNodeB receives information regarding the UE capability information from the UE and stores the information. The eNodeB sends the UE capability information to the EPC, i.e., to an MME, which receives and stores the UE capability information. When the UE transits from idle to active state, does an initial attach, or when a part of the UE capabilities have changed, it sends a message to the eNodeB regarding the update. The eNodeB forwards the message to the MME, which sends a response associated with the previously stored UE capability information to the eNodeB. The eNodeB decides whether the UE capabilities stored in the MME is up-to-date based on the message from the UE and the response from the MME. If the UE holds updated UE capabilities the eNodeB can request updated UE capability information from the UE.
