Patent number: 10926720Abstract: A vibration damping assembly for use with an automotive vehicle is provided. The assembly includes a bracket having a C-shaped receptacle, a component such as an air cleaner housing having an integrally-formed, grommet-holding cylindrical post extending therefrom attached to the bracket, and a spool-shaped isolator mounting grommet attached to the post. The post includes a proximal end integrally attached to the component and a distal end. The distal end includes at least one integrally-formed retention barb and preferably includes two spaced-apart and integrally-formed barbs. The post includes an attachment end attached to the component and an unattached end opposite the attachment end. The barbs are formed on the unattached end. Each barb includes an upper edge extending beyond the unattached end of the post. Each barb includes a ramped, grommet-passing surface. The spool-shaped isolator mounting grommet may be formed from materials such as TPO, TPE, AEM, ECO, and EPDM.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 2018Date of Patent: February 23, 2021Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Jeff Boulton, David Lowrie, James Labadie, Preet Kamal Virk, Roger Joseph Khami

Patent number: 9897050Abstract: An air filtration system (100) for an engine. The air filtration system (100) includes a main filter assembly (102) configured to filter air from a first dirty air inlet (110), the main filter assembly (102) defining a dirty air side (112) of the main filter assembly (102) and a clean air side (114) of the main filter assembly (102). The air filtration system further includes an auxiliary filter assembly (104) configured to filter air from a second dirty air inlet (116), wherein the auxiliary filter assembly (104) is selectively attachable to the main filter assembly (102) such that when the auxiliary filter assembly (104) is attached air is filtered from the second dirty air inlet (116) to the clean air side (114) of the main filter assembly (102).Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 2014Date of Patent: February 20, 2018Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Jason Baldwin, Jayne Hyde, Roger Khami, Preet Kamal Virk, Robert Joseph Mohan, Joseph Matthew McCann

Publication number: 20170356329Abstract: As engines are developing more specific power than earlier versions, the engines move more severely in the engine compartment during torque changes than prior engines. A more robust system to retain engine ducts and tubes is desired, particularly for situations where one end of the duct is mounted to a sub-component in the engine compartment and another end to the engine. A bracketing system for a powerplant for a vehicle has an engine mounted to a vehicle frame via engine mounts, an air cleaner mounted to the vehicle frame, a duct fluidly coupling the air cleaner with the engine, a first bracket coupled to and wrapped around a portion of an engine component, and a second bracket coupled to the first bracket. The first bracket has an orifice for the tie straps to secure the engine coolant tubes and the second bracket is curved to accept the duct.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 12, 2016Publication date: December 14, 2017Inventors: Qingrui John Liu, Tofiqul Islam, Preet Kamal Virk, James William Ortman, Robert Joseph Mohan
