    Abstract: Systems and methods described herein improve a customer experience for non-standalone cellular networks by displaying a secondary cell group (SCG) network icon after data activity ends while a user device likely remains in SCG coverage. When connected to the SCG, the user device detects inactivity on the connection and initiates a first timer, based on the detecting, while continuing to present an SCG-related icon. If the first timer expires while the user device is in an idle state, the user device initiates a second timer, while continuing to present the SCG-related icon. The method also includes retrieving information associated with traffic conditions within a group of base stations; initiating a load balancing operation when traffic conditions within a base station indicate that a particular cell, associated with the base station, is congested; and sending, to a set of base stations that send traffic to the CPE device, a notification, where the notification causes traffic, not destined for the CPE device, to be rerouted to another base station, which enables the base station to send traffic, that complies with the GOS, to the CPE device, or causes the CPE device to receive traffic, that complies with the GOS, from a further based station.

The IP data traffic is buffered in a memory within the outdoor broadband unit. A forwarding plane module of the network device sends the IP data traffic toward a destination via an air interface for a wide area network (WAN). The network device receives, via different Ethernet over coaxial cable signals, IP control traffic originating from the device within the LAN. A control plane module of the network device implements the instructions in the IP control traffic to initiate a test function for the network device.
