  • Patent number: 10646694
Abstract: An access sheath assembly can include an elongate sheath for accessing an interior of an artery or vein through an access point on a patient's limb and a hub that is coupled to the elongate sheath and that includes an access port configured to provide access to an interior of the elongate sheath. The assembly includes a closure device configured to fit about the patient's limb and capable of being coupled with the hub, the closure device movable between an engaged configuration in which the closure device is coupled with the hub and thus is positioned to secure the hub relative to the patient's limb and a disengaged configuration in which the closure device is apart from the hub and extends about the patient's limb at the access point in order to provide pressure to the access point.
    Type: Grant

  • Publication number: 20160220357
Abstract: Devices provided herein can include implantable transseptal flow control components adapted to be implanted in an opening in a septal wall. In a closed configuration, the implantable transseptal flow control components provided herein prevent blood from flowing through the opening. In an open configuration, the implantable transseptal flow control components provided herein allow blood to flow from the left atrium to the right atrium. In a closed configuration, implantable transseptal flow control components provided herein can be configured such that blood does not stagnate at a location proximate to a left atrium flow control component side when the pressure differential is below a second predetermined threshold pressure value. Implantable transseptal flow control components provided herein can remain in a closed configuration when a pressure differential between the left atrium and the right atrium is less than a first non-zero predetermined threshold pressure value.

  • Publication number: 20150360009
Abstract: Multifunctional occlusion crossover devices include features to improve the crossover balloon occlusion technique used during transcatheter aortic valve replacement procedures, for example. The devices include a compliant balloon incorporated with a highly flexible and lubricous sheath system. The balloon is capable of safely occluding from the common iliac artery and down to an access site in the femoral artery. The devices can simplify the CBOT technique and replace multiple devices currently used for the procedure.

  • Publication number: 20150018431
Abstract: In one aspect, the present disclosure pertains to lubricous coating compositions that comprise (a) a higher molecular weight polyvinylpyrrolidone, (b) a lower molecular weight polyvinylpyrrolidone, and (c) a polyfunctional unsaturated crosslinking agent. In some embodiments, such lubricous coating compositions are present in crosslinked form on the surface of a medical article. In some embodiments, the lubricous coating compositions further comprise a solvent, in which case such compositions may be, for example, applied to a substrate in the form of a layer and subsequently crosslinked, thereby forming a lubricious coating on the substrate. In another aspect, the present disclosure is directed to methods for forming various medical articles.
