  • Patent number: 6837758
Abstract: A fast military surface craft, particularly a frigate or a corvette, includes at least two electric rudder propeller drives, whereby the electric ruder propeller drive is placed at a cruising speed. The electric energy for the rudder propeller of the electric rudder propeller drives is generated by way of fuel cell units distributed in a de-centralized manner in the ship. At least two, preferably electric, hydrojets are provided with underwater hydrojet exit nozzles to enable the craft to travel at high speeds, whereby the electric energy of the hydrojets is produced, by generators.

  • Publication number: 20040029460
Abstract: An actuator is for a rudder propeller, in particular an electrically driven propeller of a sea-going vessel. The propeller is located on a rotative shaft in the stern region beneath the bottom of the vessel. The shaft can be rotated using at least two electric servomotors, which act by way of pinions on a rim gear that is connected to the upper part of the shaft. They preferably act by way of a gear that is located inside the upper part of the shaft and are configured to be controllable and adjustable in the group.

  • Patent number: 6485339
Abstract: An electric propulsion pod for a ship having a electric propulsion pod heat rejection member. The electric propulsion pod is attached below the ship by a hollow ship access shaft. The electric propulsion pod contains an electric motor for producing a water propulsion. The electric motor generates an amount of heat that is conducted and subsequently released into the water through the electric propulsion pod and ship access shaft surfaces. The heat rejection member is fitted for increasing the conduction and subsequent release of the electric motor heat.
