  • Patent number: 5149423
Abstract: An apparatus for purifying waste water by precipitating out foreign material as solids and separating the solids from the purified water comprising a rotatable semi-cylindrical open container and a band filter beneath the container for receiving the contents of the container and separating the precipitated solids from the purified water. As the container slowly rotates, the contents spill over the edge of the container onto the moving band filter. The purified water is recovered in a filtrate container beneath the filter while the solids are discharged to waste from the end of the band filter. A microprocessor controls the sequence of operations, including the rotation of the container, the stirring mechanism, the feeding of the precipitation agent and the duration of stirring.

  • Patent number: 5143602
Abstract: There is described devices and a process for the separation of solids from a fluid. The devices contain a cylinder drum, the casing of which has at least one, and preferably two openings which are positioned diametrically opposite to one another. The cylinder drum is positioned with its circumference within the curve of a power driven jointed belt conveyor and a filter belt rotates between the jointed belt conveyor and the surface of the cylinder drum casing. The internal space of the cylinder drum accommodates the fluid which is to be processed and serves as the reaction and settling container. The cylinder drum is rotated either in stages or continuously during the process.

  • Patent number: 4693819
Abstract: Apparatus for treating emulsions and industrial waste waters includes a reaction container in which the fluid to be treated is treated with a chemical mixture and a settling container in contact with the same in which the settling precipitate separates and settles from the fluid. Devices for discharging the precipitate from the container and devices for dividing the chemical mixture among the fluids to be treated are also provided.

  • Patent number: 4415467
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a chemical composition for treating contaminated waste waters, particularly waste waters in the form of oily emulsions, to adsorb the contaminants between platelets of activated bentonite and encapsulate or trap the contaminants between the platelets so that the contaminants cannot be leached out into the waste water. The composition includes an acid, such as adipic acid; a coagulant such as aluminum sulfate or ferric sulfate; an activated betonite; lime CaO or Ca(OH).sub.2 ; and bentonite containing at least about 5% by weight calcium aluminum silicate. The invention also is directed to a process for producing the chemical composition, and a method of treating contaminated waste waters with the chemical composition.

  • Patent number: 4332693
Abstract: A chemical agent for treating oily emulsions and the like in industrial waste water includes a homogenous mixture of talc; adipic acid; aluminum sulfate; TIXOTON, a registered trademark; a flocculating agent; lime and bentonite. The process for producing the agent involves the steps of introducing the compounds, one at a time, and in the order listed above into a mixing chamber wherein the mixture is vigorously stirred until homogenity is achieved.
