  • Publication number: 20160027088
Abstract: A system is disclosed that obtains an image of an apparel item and text describing the apparel item. The system also determines descriptive metadata of the apparel item by extracting information from the text. Further, the system further determines categorization metadata of the apparel item by analyzing the image. Additionally, the system stores the image, the descriptive metadata, and the categorization metadata in a virtual closet. Moreover, the system provides a recommendation of an outfit from a stylist to a user based on the virtual closet.

  • Patent number: 9198444
Abstract: A device for controlling the composition inside a shipping/storage container for produce, such as bananas, is disclosed. Such atmospheric control is particularly important when dealing with the ripening of respiring fruit. The device comprises a chamber surrounded by an outer wall, at least a portion of that wall made up of a selectively gas-permeable membrane which is in communication with the outside atmosphere. The chamber also includes at least two channels which are connected to the container: one which transmits gas form the chamber to the container, and one which transmits gas from the container to the chamber.

  • Patent number: 9145554
Abstract: This invention describes a method for treating cancer by increasing the nuclear localization of the COMMD1 protein, which is associated with decreasing or blocking the proliferation of the cancer cell. The invention is also related to the use of agents that increase nuclear localization of the COMMD1 protein, in the manufacture of a medicament for cancer therapy. These agents can be peptides or proteins, among other compounds. The invention is also related to the optimization of a peptide, coming from the sequence HARIKPTFRRLKWKKYKGKFW, to increase the nuclear localization of the protein COMMD, and thus, to increase the antitumor effect of this peptide.

  • Publication number: 20130245356
Abstract: A device for manipulating a magnetic coupling force across tissue in response to a monitored coupling force is described. The device includes a magnetic field source assembly that includes at least one fixed magnet and a rotatable magnet positioned within a cavity defined by the fixed magnet that provide an external magnetic field source for providing a magnetic field across tissue. An actuation assembly is operatively connected to the magnetic field force assembly. A sensor is provided that senses a magnetic coupling force and communicates changes therein to a controller which directs the accuation assembly to adjust the speed of rotation of the rotatable magnet in response to the sensed changes in magnetic coupling force to effect a change of magnetic flux generated by the rotatable magnet.
