  • Patent number: 9122312
Abstract: One or more computing devices may detect the presence of a user, determine default communication mode for communicating with the user, use the default communication mode to elicit a communicative gesture from the user, receive a signal identifying at least one communicative gesture from the user, and convert the identified communicative gestures into a command. The default communication mode may be based on the identity of the user. Alternatively, the default communication mode can be determined by using a first mode of communication to prompt the user to make a mode-selection gesture, and if a mode-selection gesture is detected from the user within a threshold period of time, setting the first mode of communication as the default communication mode. Otherwise, if no mode-selection gesture is detected within a threshold period of time, using an alternative mode of communication to prompt the user to make a mode-selection gesture.

  • Publication number: 20150075603
Abstract: A coating is described. The coating includes a metal oxide layer, which in turn includes a surface having a water contact angle greater than 90 degrees. A metal-oxide coating composition is also described. The composition includes effective amounts of a first type and a second of metals and an effective amount of oxygen to react with the first type and the second type of metals to produce a first type and a second type of metal oxides, both of which produce a structure that is greater than about 50% (by volume) amorphous.

  • Publication number: 20140344827
Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product are provided for scheduling a task to be performed by at least one processor core. In operation, a task to be performed by at least one of a plurality of processor cores is identified. Additionally, a temperature of each of the plurality of processor cores is determined. Further, a first processor core of the plurality of processor cores is identified based on at least the determined temperature of each of the plurality of processor cores and, in one embodiment, spatial information associated with each of the plurality of processor cores. Still yet, at least a portion of the task is scheduled to be performed by the first processor core.

  • Publication number: 20140060648
Abstract: A multilayer stack is described. The multilayer stack includes: (i) one or more inorganic barrier layers for reducing transport of gas or vapor molecules therethrough; (ii) an inorganic reactive layer disposed adjacent to one or more of the inorganic barrier layers, and the reactive layer capable of reacting with the gas or the vapor molecules; and (iii) wherein, in an operational state of the multilayer stack, the vapor or the gas molecules that diffuse through one or more of the inorganic barrier layers react with the inorganic reactive layer, and thereby allow said multilayer stack to be substantially impervious to the gas or the vapor molecules.
