  • Patent number: 11516839
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described that support discontinuous scheduling. A base station may transmit, to a user equipment (UE), a grant of resources of a communication channel over a multiple of aggregated TTIs. The UE may monitor a control channel for the grant of resources transmitted by base station. The base station and the UE may identify a location of an excluded TTI within the plurality of aggregated TTIs. The excluded TTI may correspond to a TTI for communicating synchronization signals, random access channel (RACH) signals, or the like. The base station may communicate with the UE via the resources of the communication channel over at least a subset of the aggregated TTIs based on the grant and the location of the excluded TTI.

  • Patent number: 11509368
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first wireless device may receive a request for beamforming information associated with line-of-sight (LoS) multiple input multiple output (MIMO) communication from a second wireless device. The first wireless device may generate a channel estimation matrix for a channel between rectangular antenna arrays of the respective wireless devices, the channel estimation matrix including one or more quadratic terms for the LoS MIMO communication. The first wireless device may generate a first sub-matrix and a second sub-matrix based on the channel estimation matrix. The first wireless device may transmit an indication of a set of precoders for the LoS MIMO communication, the set of precoders based on a symmetry associated with the first and second sub-matrices, and may receive the LoS MIMO communication from the second wireless device based on the set of precoders.

  • Patent number: 11496255
Abstract: A method and apparatus for improved transmission of ACK and NACK bits to a base station The example method may determine a distance between a first UE and a second UE based on one or more of a sequence length, a number of hypothesis, or a number of UEs sharing an OFDM symbol. The example method may determine a plurality of cyclic shifts for each of the first UE and the second UE. The example method may assign one or more sequences to each UE. The example method may receive, at the base station, a multiplexed signal, wherein the multiplexed signal includes at least one bit of uplink control information (UCI) from the first UE and the second UE multiplexed on an uplink short burst transmitted via the OFDM symbol. The method may enable the receipt of UCI from multiple UEs in a multiplexed signal.

  • Publication number: 20220346121
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may map a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) sequence to a first symbol in a set of resource blocks (RBs) of an uplink long burst, and the first symbol may occur at the beginning of the uplink long burst. The DMRS sequence may be “front-loaded” in the uplink long burst. The DMRS sequence may be dependent upon RB locations. When the DMRS sequence is mapped to the beginning of an uplink long burst, uplink control information (UCI) may be mapped in a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH). A UE may map UCI in a PUSCH after the DMRS sequence is mapped to the beginning of the uplink long burst. When the base station receives an uplink long burst including the front-loaded DMRS and the UCI mapped in the PUSCH, the base station may identify the DMRS for channel estimation/interference cancelation of the UCI carried on the PUSCH.

  • Publication number: 20220321189
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may report capabilities pertaining to UE feedback processing, such as a number of simultaneous feedback reports that can be processed and reported by the UE for various types of feedback. For example, UE feedback processing capability may depend on channel state information (CSI) processing units (CPUs) available to the UE for feedback processing operations (e. g., for performing channel measurements, processing feedback, generating a feedback report, etc.). A UE may report feedback processing capability separately for periodic feedback reporting and for aperiodic feedback reporting, for different types of feedback reporting (e. g., for CSI reporting, for beam management reporting, etc.), etc. As such, a UE may more efficiently report capabilities pertaining to UE feedback processing, and a base station may more efficiently configure UE feedback reporting according to UE feedback processing capability.

  • Publication number: 20220303042
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some cases, randomized shifts of a base sequence may be used for transmitting uplink control information. For example, a user equipment (UE) may identify a base sequence of an uplink control message. The UE may also receive signaling that indicates a UE-specific initial shift that may be applied to the base sequence. In some examples, the signaling that indicates the randomized shift may be explicit, implicit, or a combination thereof. After determining one or more shifted sequences based on the UE-specific initial shift, a payload of the uplink control message, and the base sequence, the UE may select a shifted sequence to be transmitted, where the selection is based on a payload of the uplink control message. For example, different shifted sequences may be selected for respective transmissions of scheduling requests, 1-bit acknowledgments (ACKs), 2-bit ACKs, and the like.

  • Publication number: 20220287032
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) and a base station may support switching from one waveform to another on uplink channels. For example, a UE and a base station may utilize both frequency division multiplexing (SC-FDM) waveform and an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) waveforms based on channel conditions and other factors. In some examples, a UE may switch for some uplink channels, and use a single waveform for other channels. For example, switching waveforms for channels that utilize frequency domain code division multiplexing (CDM) channel may interrupt the orthogonality of multiplexed transmissions. A UE may transition from one waveform to another either autonomously or based on an explicit indication from a base station. If a UE switches autonomously, it may send an indication of the transition to the serving base station.

  • Patent number: 11438917
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems (e.g., new radio (NR) wireless communications systems), a base station may serve a large number of user equipment (UEs). The base station may allocate uplink control channel resources to the UEs. A UE may receive, from the base station, a first resource assignment for a first set of symbols. The UE may also receive, from the base station, a second resource assignment for a second set of symbols, where the first set of symbols and the second set of symbols include an overlapping set of symbols. The UE may modify first resources for the first resource assignment, second resources for the second resource assignment, or both. The UE may then transmit first information based on the first resource assignment.

  • Publication number: 20220278808
Abstract: Systems, methods, computer-readable medium, and apparatus are disclosed that allow for control information to be provided in an efficient manner during short burst transmission. For example, an apparatus may be configured to receive downlink control information (DCI) that indicates an allocated resource from a base station. The apparatus may also receive data from the base station. The apparatus may generate a cyclically shifted sequence that corresponds to a sequence that is cyclically shifted based on at least one of an ACK or NACK for the received data and a SR. The apparatus may then transmit the cyclically shifted sequence in the allocated resource within one symbol period of a slot of a subframe to the base station. Thus, by transmitting the SR and the ACK/NACK in one symbol, control information for short burst transmissions can be provided in a more temporally efficient manner without adding excessive complexity to the UE.

  • Patent number: 11412038
Abstract: Techniques for performing network-assisted peer discovery to enable peer-to-peer (P2P) communication are described. In one design, a device registers with a network entity (e.g., a directory agent) so that the presence of the device and possibly other information about the device can be made known to the network entity. The network entity collects similar information from other devices. The device sends a request to the network entity, e.g., during or after registration. The request includes information used to match the device with other devices, e.g., information about service(s) provided by the device and/or service(s) requested by the device. The directory agent matches requests received from all devices, determines a match between the device and at least one other device, and sends a notification to perform peer discovery. The device performs peer discovery in response to receiving the notification from the network entity.

  • Patent number: 11412534
