Abstract: A system and method for resilient signal encoding provide for encoding a data signal to reduce bandwidth required to transmit the encoded signal while mitigating the impact of frames lost or corrupted during transmission. A first frame of the data signal is encoded as an independently decodable frame and is assigned as a reference frame. Subsequent frames of the data signal are encoded as different frames relative to the reference frame. The independently decodable frame and the difference frames are transmitted to a receiver. The receiver decodes the frames and sends an acknowledgement for one or more successfully decoded difference frames. When an acknowledgment is received, a corresponding data signal frame is assigned as the reference frame. Subsequent difference frames are encoded relative to the newly assigned reference frame.

Abstract: An augmented reality system with encoding light emitting beacons placed in a scene. Beacons placed at desired locations in a scene emit light modulated with multiple access encoding that conveys an identifier for its emitting beacon. The emitted light signals are also blanked for longer than a time between image capturing by an image augmenting device. Beacons viewed in captured images are identified by correlating an absence of a beacon in an image with an absence of a received identifier in received light signals. In a view of the scene presented to a user, augmenting images are obtained based upon the determined beacon identifier and are displayed at locations in the scene based upon the determined location of that beacon. Beacons that emit pulsed light signals encoded with the multiple access coding are also provided.

Abstract: A display system. A display device has viewports emitting expanded views of an image, an image receiving area receives the image, and optical conduits with exit pupil expanders expand the image through the viewports. A separate tracking projector has an image projector that projects an image along an axis, a marker search illuminator that projects light into a space including the axis, and an image capture component that captures target images that including at least three reflective marker images associated with the image receiving area. An image processor determines, based the marker images, a distance and an orientation of the image receiving area. A projection controller adjusts image data based upon the distance and the orientation to cause projected images to arrive squarely at the image receiving area.

Abstract: A method, system and device are provided for using a predetermined vector, vref and channel knowledge H, G from each transmitter to compute and feedback equivalent channel vector information hi,jeq to its affiliated transmitter. With this information, each transmitter selects Li receivers and constructs a transmitted signal by applying a selected precoding vector to rank 1 data, thereby eliminating interference to the rest of the receivers in the network.

Abstract: A network element in a first cell in a wireless telecommunication network is provided. The network element comprises a processor configured such that the network element provides uplink and downlink grants in the first cell, wherein the first cell is a low-power cell within the coverage area of a second, high-power cell, and wherein the first cell acts as a secondary cell and the second cell acts as a primary cell in a carrier aggregation mode, and wherein at least one uplink control signal is received by one of only the first cell or both the first cell and the second cell.

Abstract: Displaying a map on a wireless communications device includes downloading map data from which the map is to be rendered, rendering portions of the map for which the map data has been fully downloaded, and then graphically overlaying on a portion of the map for which the map data has not yet been fully downloaded a graphical indication, such as hatching, crosshatching or shading, to indicate that further map data is being downloaded. This hatching, crosshatching, shading, or writing informs the user that further map data is being downloaded and that not all of the map features have been rendered yet.

Abstract: A method for facilitating accelerated network selection on a wireless user equipment (UE) device includes storing information regarding power-off time and power-off location as the UE device is about to enter a power-off condition. Upon power-up, the method further includes computing an estimated distance that the UE device has traveled while in the power-off condition using the stored information and a current time, defining a boundary that lies the estimated distance from a location indicated by the power-off location, for a plurality of regions lying within the boundary, logically sequencing acquisition records that are associated with the regions in a system acquisition database structure based on the regions nearness to the boundary, and locating a network via scanning using scanning data obtained from the logically sequenced acquisition records.

Abstract: An apparatus, and an associated method, for facilitating communication operations with a wireless device that is ICS or DTM capable. A message generator is provided, configured to generate a network-terminated message, the network-terminated message including a media feature tag that identifies support of ICS. When transmitted to a network node, the message is detected. And, a wireless-device-terminated message that provides for mapping of a SIP URI into a calling name presentation.

Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a method, computer program product, mobile device or a system allowing for determining various route metrics based on stored route records associated with routes traversed by the mobile device. The determination of a route metric may utilize processing of a single route record or multiple route records. Exemplary route metrics include route timing metrics such as lap times, or route record metrics. Configurations of computer program products, mobile devices and systems for enabling the determination of various route metrics are also described.

Abstract: A system and method of provisioning services for a mobile communication device are disclosed. A provisioning request including provisioning information and specifying a provisioning operation and a first communication service is prepared on the mobile communication device and sent to a provisioning system. Processing of the provisioning request is dependent upon whether or not a second communication service has been activated for the mobile communication device. If the mobile communication device is outside a coverage area of a wireless communication network when a provisioning request is prepared, the request is stored at the mobile communication device and sent to the provisioning system when the mobile communication device enters the coverage area. The provisioning system preferably manages service provisioning for multiple services, any of which may be hosted by different service providers.

Abstract: A user equipment device, removable storage module and method for accelerating network selection by a wireless user equipment (UE) device without having to perform a full band scan (FBS). In one exemplary embodiment, the UE device sends location information of the wireless user equipment device to a home network node. receives appropriate network list information and associated frequency data from the home network node, the network list information comprising network identities comprising a combination of a core network with at least one of an access network and a service network, and locates a network using at least one of the appropriate network list information and associated frequency data without having to do a full band scan.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for reducing the number of pilot symbols within a MIMO-OFDM communication system, and for improving channel estimation within such a system. For each transmitting antenna in an OFDM transmitter, pilot symbols are encoded so as to be unique to the transmitting antenna. The encoded pilot symbols are then inserted into an OFDM frame to form a diamond lattice, the diamond lattices for the different transmitting antennae using the same frequencies but being offset from each other by a single symbol in the time domain. At the OFDM receiver, a channel response is estimated for a symbol central to each diamond of the diamond lattice using a two-dimensional interpolation. The estimated channel responses are smoothed in the frequency domain. The channel responses of remaining symbols are then estimated by interpolation in the frequency domain.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for managing the wireless delivery of streaming media content to a user equipment (UE) device. A UE device establishes a network connection with a local wireless network, which in turn is associated with a wireless network region with a corresponding data infrastructure server. The UE device then requests predetermined streaming media content from the data infrastructure server. A determination is made whether the requested streaming media content is stored in transcoded form on the data infrastructure server. If so, then a control information network is implemented to transmit and receive streaming media content control data between the UE device and the data infrastructure server. In turn, the streaming media content control data is used by the data infrastructure server to control the transmission of the transcoded streaming media content over a data network for delivery to the UE device.

Abstract: A method for managing expedited communication functions for a mobile device having a processing subsystem, a memory subsystem, a display subsystem, a communication subsystem, and a keyboard subsystem includes displaying a graphical key representation of mobile device keyboard subsystem keys, arranging the graphical keys in similar disposition to the mobile device keyboard subsystem keys, and displaying visual indicia to indicate mobile device keyboard subsystem keys associated with expedited communication functions.
