Patent number: 8924545Abstract: Embodiments are directed to creating a persona from observed characteristics of content and to sharing a network persona derived from observed characteristics of content. In one scenario, a computer system observes one set of properties for a first portion of content on a network. The first portion of content is from a first account. The computer system also observes a different set of properties for a second portion of content on the network, where the second portion of content is from a second account. The computer system then correlates an association between the first account and the second account as part of a network persona that is based on the first properties and one or more corresponding properties from the second portion of content.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 2012Date of Patent: December 30, 2014Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Richard Harvey James Orr, Kimberly Maughan Saunders, Guillermo Proano, Edward James Lehman, Maria Balsamo, Dirk Myers, Peter Gilmore Dodd

Publication number: 20130159273Abstract: Embodiments are directed to optimizing searchable resources and to returning relevant search results. In one scenario, a computer system monitors multiple different social media sites to observe conversations related to the searchable resources. The computer system identifies terminology related to the searchable resources from any one or more of the observed conversations. The identified terminology identified may be based on topic, author, and/or place. The computer system then accesses known terminology used to search for the searchable resources and correlates a relationship between the known terminology and the identified terminology. The computer system also modifies the searchable resources to be responsive to a search request that is expressed using the identified terminology.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 16, 2011Publication date: June 20, 2013Applicant: MICROSOFT CORPORATIONInventors: Richard Harvey James Orr, Dirk Myers, Kimberly Maughan Saunders, Guillermo Proano, Edward James Lehman, Jennifer Rowe Lussier

Publication number: 20130066862Abstract: Embodiments are directed to efficiently correlating internet resources and to providing relevant content to a user. In an embodiment, a computer system gathers portions of information from multiple different resources and organizes the gathered information into different indices according to at least one of the following data axes: author, topic and source. The computer system computes correlations between the organized information across the data axes so that each portion of information has relationship information linking it to other portions of organized information. The computer system also intelligently learns which other informational items are to be searched for based on the computed correlations and returns the additional data relevant to the gathered data.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 12, 2011Publication date: March 14, 2013Applicant: MICROSOFT CORPORATIONInventors: Richard Harvey James Orr, Dirk Myers, Kimberly Maughan Saunders, Guillermo Proano, Edward James Lehman, Maria Balsamo

Patent number: 8371271Abstract: An outboard marine engine has vapor vent control apparatus including a fuel inlet in fluid communication with a fuel reservoir of the engine. The fuel inlet is operably attachable to a fuel pin of a fuel connector. When attached, liquid fuel flows to the fuel reservoir and when detached, liquid fuel flow out of the fuel inlet is prevented. A vapor vent passage is configured in fluid communication with the liquid fuel reservoir and an air intake of the engine. A vent pin is disposed in the vapor vent passage. The vent pin moves between a first position upon attaching the fuel connector to the fuel inlet and a second position upon detaching the fuel connector from the fuel inlet. In the first position, the vapor vent passage is open to fuel vapor flow and, when in the second position, the vapor vent passage is closed to fuel vapor flow.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 2009Date of Patent: February 12, 2013Assignee: Federal-Mogul CorporationInventors: Kyle D. Patent number: 7933971Abstract: There is described a method of communicating over a public data network, for example the Internet. A user of a public PC, for example one located in an Internet café, uses the Internet browser provided on the public PC to downloaded from a remote trusted web site a secure Internet browser that then runs within the browser provided on the public PC. The user uses the secure Internet browser to browse the Internet. The secure browser has been configured so that no copy of information transmitted into the network or downloaded from the network is cached or otherwise recorded on the hard disc of the terminal. The user may thus browse the Internet without leaving a record of sensitive information (e.g. credit card details) used in the browsing session at the public terminal.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 2004Date of Patent: April 26, 2011Assignee: Roke Manor Research LimitedInventors: Richard Craig Beesley, Richard Andrew Bonniface, Richard Harvey Day, Stuart William John Daley, Baby Vasudevan
