  • Patent number: 11489316
Abstract: A metal shell for a spark plug is made from a steel material that has increased carbon content and, in some embodiments, boron as well. The steel material is well-suited for extrusion because of its ductility, while maintaining requisite strength. The spark plug shell may have a reduced outer diameter (ODHL) at a crimped hot lock region, such as the case when the shell is used in smaller diameter spark plugs, such as M8 and M10 plugs. According to a non-limiting example, the spark plug shell steel material comprises 0.20-0.55 wt % carbon, inclusive.

  • Publication number: 20220097283
Abstract: A system for controlling parameters of polymeric film includes an extruder and a die which has a gap. A plurality of regulators are positioned along the die for regulating the gap. A cooling cylinder is located downstream of the die and a polymeric melt extends from the die to the cooling cylinder. An applicator device for creating a tracking lane in the polymeric melt is located proximate the gap. A sensor system is located downstream from the gap in a measuring location. The sensor system locates a transverse point for the respective tracking lane in the polymeric film at the measuring location. The sensor system is in communication with the regulators to adjust the gap based on a correlation of tracking lane position at origin point and transverse point at the measuring location.

  • Publication number: 20160045968
Abstract: An apparatus for electrochemically machining a workpiece has a tool having a surface-machining part and a piercing part. The parts are relatively fixed and jointly movable. A power source oppositely polarizes the tool and the workpiece and an electrolyte is fed to the workpiece. The tool is pressed against the workpiece such that the surface-machining part forms a shaped surface on the workpiece and simultaneously the piercing part forms or enlarges a bore in the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 8403615
Abstract: A vehicle lift barrier is adapted to be mounted to vehicle lifts and the like that assist in loading and unloading cargo and provide a storage environment in which cargo is less likely to migrate from a cargo area into a passenger seating area or compartment. A barrier composed of a barricade is mounted to a vehicle lift, in some cases example by mounting the barrier to a generally vertical post, mast or the like or mounting the barrier to a lift platform, allowing the lift to operate normally while the barricade obstructs all or a substantial portion of the passage between the motor vehicle storage/cargo area and the passenger area. Where the barrier is mounted to a vertical post or the like on a vehicle lift, cut-out bracketing can be used to mate with the outer cross-sectional shape of the post to inhibit pivoting of the barrier about the post. Other bracket profiles can be used to enhance the barrier's protective advantages.

  • Patent number: 7832682
Abstract: A material roll is transported to a roll changer by being arranged on a transport carriage. The material roll and transport carriage are placed on a transfer table which is moved into position between journal bearings of the roll changer. The transfer table is adapted to move the material roll transversely and along a longitudinal axis of the material roll and can pivot in a horizontal plane. An inclined position of the material roll, arranged on the transfer table, is determined by sensors. In this determined, axially aligned position, the material roll is axially aligned on the bearing journals. The roll size of the material is determined. An axially aligned position for roller support arms of a roll carrier of the roll changer is determined as a function of the determined roll size. An axially aligned position of the transfer table is determined as a function of the determined roll size and the determined inclined position of the material roll.

  • Patent number: 7202036
Abstract: Background luminescence is reduced from a solution containing unbound luminescent probes, each having a first molecule that attaches to a target molecule and having an attached luminescent moiety, and luminescent probe/target adducts. Quenching capture reagent molecules are formed that are capable of forming an adduct with the unbound luminescent probes and having an attached quencher material effective to quench luminescence of the luminescent moiety. The quencher material of the capture reagent molecules is added to a solution of the luminescent probe/target adducts and binds in a proximity to the luminescent moiety of the unbound luminescent probes to quench luminescence from the luminescent moiety when the luminescent moiety is exposed to exciting illumination. The quencher capture reagent does not bind to probe molecules that are bound to target molecules and the probe/target adduct emission is not quenched.

  • Publication number: 20070008897
Abstract: Methods and apparatus provide single or multi-port, flexible, cost-effective, built-in self-test capabilities for network communications equipment, such as for example switches, and programmably generate, and subsequently analyze, one or more sequences of test packets, wherein the test packets simulate at least two flows of traffic. Such test packets can have programmable headers, payloads, and duty cycle. A line card embodying the present invention may generate its own traffic pattern, which may be similar or identical, to traffic patterns observed on Internet backbones. These traffic patterns may contain a bimodal distribution of control packets interspersed with data packets wherein the control packets and data packets are relatively short and long respectively. A plurality of test packet generators/receivers can be deployed in a network communications device having a plurality of ports. In such a configuration, test generator/receiver is associated with each of the plurality of ports.

  • Publication number: 20070008965
Abstract: A synchronous optical network (SONET) framer includes a frame dimension unit and a programming interface. The frame dimension unit can be programmed with a frame dimension through the programming interface. The SONET framer converts a data stream to and/or from a frame format based on the frame dimension programmed into the frame dimension unit. For instance, in various embodiments, a SONET framer can be programmed to support a variety of SONET frame sizes and to provide a number of testing and design advantages.

  • Publication number: 20060008799
Abstract: The present invention includes a method for rapid haplotyping a DNA or RNA segment. Two or more target sites on a segment of DNA or RNA are labeled with separate distinguishable luminescent hybridization probes, where the targets are selected genetic markers. A dilute solution is formed containing the labeled DNA or RNA segments. Each DNA or RNA segment is illuminated with light beams effective to excite each luminescent hybridization probe, when present. The presence or absence of each luminescent hybridization probe on each DNA or RNA segment is detected to determine the haplotype of each DNA or RNA segment.

  • Publication number: 20060001709
Abstract: A seal (8) which is produced from an elastomer and comprises a contact plate (9) which rests against the outside of the housing and forms a sealing surface (10) surrounding an outlet orifice (12) is inserted into an orifice (7) at the lower end of a housing (2) of an ink cartridge (1). A ring (11) adjacent to the top of the contact plate (9) surrounds a passage connecting to the outlet orifice (12) and leading into the interior of the housing and carries an all-round collar (13) projecting over the edge of the orifice (7) on the inside of the housing, so that the seal (8) is snapped into the orifice (7). Once the ink cartridge (1) has been inserted into a receptacle (24) of an adapter (22), with which it forms an inkjet printing head, the sealing surface (10) presses against a frame which surrounds a receiving orifice (27) of the adapter (22), which receiving orifice is connected to a nozzle plate, so that the ink path is reliably sealed.
