  • Publication number: 20070212960
Abstract: Wet wipe products are made from continuous wet wiping web material having thermoplastic fibers of type, concentration and dispersion capable of being heat-set to set the overall web material in a reformed shape. A succession of ridges and grooves is formed by passing the performed material through a dry creper apparatus in absence of adhesives, the action characterized by pressing the material with a stationary pressing surface to engage an advancing drive surface, the driven material bodily collapsing into a succession of adjacent ridges and grooves that increase the volume of the material. The wet wiping material is heat set in the ridge and groove configuration, enabling the ridge and groove configuration to be preserved when the wet wiping material is wetted and when squeezed and released. The self-storing ridge and groove configuration provides stress concentrating edges and improves liquid delivery and wet wiping in a number of respects.

  • Patent number: 7205352
Abstract: The present invention provides a dispersant for aqueous and non-aqueous systems which can disperse insoluble fine powders in non-aqueous liquids in a short period of time and give long-term dispersion stability to the resulting dispersions without allowing the formation of hard cake or precipitates. The dispersant is a compound of the formula wherein SO is styrene oxide; R is a C8–C22 saturated or unsaturated group; x=1–100; y=1–3; z=1–100 and s=1–100. The dispersant of the invention is also particularly effective for dispersing additives into polymers such as polyesters, polyamides, polycarbonates, polyethylene and polypropylene.

  • Patent number: 7134411
Abstract: A valve operating mechanism is described for an internal combustion engine in which at least one valve (14) of an engine cylinder is operated by two cams (10,12). The cams (10,12) have respective cam followers (38,36) which are resiliently biased to remain in contact with the cams (10,12) at all times and which act on the valve (14) by way of a summation linkage (20,24) in such a manner that the displacement of the valve (14) at any instant is determined by a combination of the displacements of the two cam followers (38,36). In the invention, movement of each of the two cam followers (38,36) is transmitted to the summation linkage (20,24) by way of a respective one of two pushrods (28,30).

  • Publication number: 20050220832
Abstract: The present invention provides an enhanced gelling agent composition comprising a mixture of a metallic soap and a coupling agent. The invention also describes compositions in gel form comprising: (a) a solvent selected from the group consisting of polar solvents, non-polar solvents and combinations thereof; and (b) a gelling agent in an amount sufficient to impart gelation to the composition, the gelling agent being a mixture comprising a metallic soap and a coupling agent. The gels of the invention may be substantially anhydrous or may optionally contain water as part of the formulation.

  • Patent number: 6816855
Abstract: A user-interactive display interface implementation for building structured software program statements and, particularly, such structured statements which may serve as search queries to databases including a plurality of display rows together with means enabling the entry of program terms into each of said rows. A template is vertically movable to each of said rows and includes a template row of indicators, each defining a type of program term enabled to be positioned in said row coincident with said indicator. There are a plurality of user-activatable menus of selectable terms, each menu respectively associated with one of said indicators. The selectable terms in each of the menus are respectively of the term type enabled to be positioned coincident with the associated indicator. Then, for editing purposes, there is selection of one of said indicators to thereby display the menu associated with the selected indicator.

  • Patent number: 6781497
Abstract: An apparatus for situating a toroidal inductor having an inductor inner dimension, such as a ferrite bead, onto a rod having a diametral dimension. The apparatus comprises a flexible tubular supporter that has a first end, a second end, a support inner dimension substantially equal to the diametral dimension and a support outer dimension. The supporter flexes when installing the inductor to establish the support outer dimension at less than the inductor inner dimension to allow the inductor to surround the supporter and rod situated intermediate the first and second end with the supporter flexed to establish the support outer dimension at greater than the inductor inner dimension intermediate the inductor and the first and second end. Alternatively, the supporter may be a molded or snap-on cover substantially enclosing the inductor with apertures for frictionally fitting over a rod to secure the inductor in place.

  • Patent number: 6728696
Abstract: A computer-implemented method is described, for searching for items in an electronic catalog, e.g. an on-line catalog accessible over the Internet. A hierarchy of category names is defined, each item in the electronic catalog being associated with one of those category names. When a search page is accessed, the category names are scanned, to generate a list of words that appear in the category names at any level of the hierarchy. The list of words is displayed in the search page, allowing a user to select one. When the user selects a word from the list, a list of items whose category names contain the selected word is displayed.

  • Patent number: 6574244
Abstract: Streams of data packets and timing pulses are received from a source. Time stamping of the data packets is carried out largely independent of individual timing pulses. A normalised pulse time of arrival is calculated, preferably as a running average over the most recent arrivals. Times of applicability for the content of the packets can then be calculated according to a predetermined relationship between the order of arrival and of corresponding pulses and packets. Data acquisition may take place from an external or internal data source. An example external source is a GPS receiver.

  • Patent number: 6544311
Abstract: A system for cooling an electrical chassis in which two separate zones are formed within the chassis by horizontal separators forming an internal floor and a ceiling, and a mid-located backplane acting as a vertical separator, spanning from floor to ceiling. Air flow volume through the zones is controlled separately through the use of separate air intake filters that may have different filter densities and sizes, and appropriate fan pack size.

  • Patent number: 5796594
Abstract: A circuit card faceplate, that is opaque to EMI emissions of a predetermined spectral range, having a tongue extending along one side edge, and a groove extending along the other side edge. The groove is arranged to receive and interlockingly engage a corresponding tongue on a side edge of an adjacent faceplate such that the tongue and groove engagement form a seam that is opaque to EMI emissions of the predetermined spectral range. The circuit card faceplate allows for top insertion of circuit card assemblies.

  • Patent number: 5761380
Abstract: A method for installing a network application is disclosed. First, the hardware resources of at least a local computer system in the network are determined. Next, the a number of users in a cell of the network is determined. The installation process determines whether the hardware resources of the local computer system can provide an adequate level of performance for the number of users in the cell if all of the network application are installed on the local computer system. If not, an installation plan is calculated to distribute components of the network application in a plurality of computer systems to provide an adequate level of performance for the cell. The installation plan is presented on a local system display. The network administrator is afforded the opportunity to change the assumptions used to generate the installation plan. Once satisfied, the network application is installed in the plurality of computer systems according to the installation plan.

  • Patent number: 5367761
Abstract: The Printed Circuit Board Assembly Extraction Tool is designed to provide a method for removing Printed Circuit Board Assemblies from card file assemblies. The Extraction Tool is provided with a rubber bumper that protects the card file designation strip from damage during the extraction process. Also provided is an handle design that accommodates spare rubber bumpers. The handle also provides a way to remove PCBA's from the card file directly above panels by inclusion of a 15.degree. offset in the handle design. The Extraction Tool design allows transfer of the extraction force to the same direction as PCBA removal. Finally, a channel is provided that acts to automatically deactivate card retainer strips while using the tool.
