  • Publication number: 20200284265
Abstract: A control system for active stability management of a compressor element of a turbine engine is provided. In one example aspect, the control system includes one or more computing devices configured to receive data indicative of an operating characteristic associated with the compressor element. For instance, the data can be received from a high frequency sensor operable to sense pressure at the compressor element. The computing devices are also configured to determine, by a machine-learned model, a stall margin remaining of the compressor element based at least in part on the received data. The machine-learned model is trained to recognize certain characteristics of the received data and associate the characteristics with a stall margin remaining of the compressor element. The computing devices are also configured to cause adjustment of one or more engine systems based at least in part on the determined stall margin remaining.

  • Patent number: 10755319
Abstract: A system and method is provided that allows a first user to identify an advertiser that is of interest to the first user and to communicate this information back to a host device. This information can then be used to target individuals on the network that are in communication with the first user (e.g., their friends) by providing those individuals with advertisements from the identified advertiser. Not only does this get a relevant advertisement before the first user, but it also gets a similar (or same) advertisement before the second user, who may have similar interests. However, in order for the first user to be able to acquire additional information on the advertiser and (separately) express an interest in the advertiser, the advertiser (or related advertisement) must be multi-interactable, or have at least two features that can be interacted with (e.g., clicked on) to trigger a response.

  • Patent number: 10705533
Abstract: A semi-autonomous or autonomous mowing vehicle with a sensor that detects the boundary between a first, relatively higher surface, such as the un-mowed vegetation and a second, a relatively lower surface, such as the mowed vegetation, and a controller for steering the semi-autonomous or autonomous vehicle along detected boundary. The detected boundary is based on height differential between the two surfaces and two methods are discussed. For one, the boundary between the two surfaces is detected using a plurality of non-contact distance measuring sensors aligned in same direction, and processes these distance measuring sensors for determining the distance sensors that measure said first relatively higher surface and the distance sensors that measure the second relatively lower surface.

  • Publication number: 20200147465
Abstract: This bean bag tossing baseball game has qualities and features resembling a baseball game and it's played like a baseball game. Each player/team will be playing offense and defense, either trying to score or trying to prevent the other team from scoring (by throwing at the offensive board or the defensive board). This game is played using skill and strategy as player/teams play defense to try to get three outs against the opposing player/team. They also play offense to try to score runs before the opposing player/team gets three outs against them. The player/teams will alternately take turns throwing. The defense will throw a bag then the offense until all four bags are thrown and then continue until three outs are registered. Players or teams will switch from playing offense to playing defense and vice versa just as they do in a real baseball game.

  • Patent number: 10594409
Abstract: Ultrasonic through metal communication systems are an effective solution for transmitting data across a metal barrier when the structural integrity of the barrier cannot be compromised by physically penetrating it. Substantial improvements in through metal communication systems have been made in recent years, enabling high speed communications of up to 15 Mbps, as well as power transmission up to 30 W across flat walls. A system is described that allows for ultrasonic through metal communication across the wall of a steel tube. Primary challenges of 1) transducer contact, 2) curvature effect on echoes, and 3) alignment are analyzed and addressed through the use of radial mode piezoelectric transducers, transducer “horns”, and Electromagnetic Acoustic Transducers (EMATs). The resulting system shows no significant loss due to changes in alignment, allows for the use of either piezoelectric transducers or EMATs externally, and achieves max data rates of approximately 600 kbps without echo equalization.

  • Publication number: 20200070034
Abstract: A process for the verification and validation testing of equipment and components for drilling, completion, production and general well construction (typically such as subsurface safety valves, wellhead trees, blowout preventers and wireline pressure control equipment) to determine the suitability of such equipment for use in oil and gas wells in high pressure high temperature environments. In particular, the process of the present invention comprises, among other steps, the steps of analyzing such components using an elastic-plastic finite element model with respect to certain preset load conditions and establishing stable model convergence, conducting a ratcheting assessment by running analysis on such model on all components that exhibit local plasticity, and examining all components to determine fatigue sensitive locations and subjecting such components to a fatigue analysis.
