  • Publication number: 20220184616
Abstract: An interface for a microfluidic device such as a microfluidic cassette has a seal portion moveable from a first position to a second position within a reservoir in response to an applied force. Movement of the seal portion within the reservoir causes the volume of the reservoir to increase. The interface also has a hollow needle with a first end and a second end, the first end locatable in fluid communication with the reservoir and the second end located outside of the reservoir and arranged for piercing. The seal portion and the needle are arranged such that when the seal portion moves from the first position to the second position, a predetermined volume of fluid is drawn through the needle into the reservoir.

  • Publication number: 20220153450
Abstract: Systems and methods for manufacturing aircraft are disclosed. For example, a method for repetitively manufacturing aircraft comprises fractionally pulsing a constituent part down an assembly line by periodically advancing the constituent part down the assembly line by less than a length of the constituent part. The periodic advancing may include advancing the aircraft component by a pulse length that is less than the length of the aircraft component, stopping movement of the aircraft component for a duration and performing work on the aircraft component, and then advancing the aircraft component by the pulse length again. In another example, a method comprises determining a fractional pulse length to fractionally pulse one or more constituent parts of an aircraft based on one or more of a minimum workstation length of one or more assembly line workstations and a minimum section length of one or more work processes to be performed.

  • Patent number: 11295126
Abstract: An authentication method includes receiving, at a processor, a signal representing an image of a serialization code and multiple flecks of a label, the flecks having a random distribution. The processor detects the serialization code and applies a modification to the image to produce a modified image. A subset of flecks of the modified image is detected, and metrics associated with each fleck from the subset of flecks are identified. The identified metrics are compared with metrics associated with a unique signature, and a message is displayed, via a user interface, indicating an authenticity of the label based on the comparison.

  • Patent number: 11273705
Abstract: Front and rear independent suspension mechanisms accommodating an increased range of motion to better absorb shock originating at the wheels of a riding mower to insulate the operator and reduce stress on the mower chassis and other mechanical components. The front suspension can include a front axle with pivot pockets allowing 360 degree rotation of pivots engaged within the pockets, thereby providing a greater range of absorption of shock entering the front axle at varying angles. The rear suspension can include a vertically pivoting transmission platform, providing for controlled vertical motion in the transmission while the transmission is powered by an engine by way of a belt assembly.

  • Publication number: 20220071529
Abstract: Measurement of target analytes is carried out with an enzyme-based sensor. The enzyme hydrogel is protected by a porous layer of a metallic material. The size of the pores is small enough to prevent degradation of the enzyme layer caused by the immune system of an organism, but large enough to allow transfer of molecules that participate in the electrochemical reaction allowing the enzyme to detect the target analytes.

  • Patent number: 11246402
Abstract: A frayed cable scaling tool is made by fraying the end of a cable so that it forms a wire brush. A collar or other way of keeping the cable from unraveling too much is necessary. When powered by a pneumatic saw power tool, the scaling tool is very effective at removing scale, rust, carbon, or other debris. The flexibility of the cable allows the frayed end of the cable to move vigorously in a random motion, which is effective for scrubbing. For some applications, it is preferred to enclose the cable and/or the collar in a guide tube.

  • Publication number: 20220021814
Abstract: A method comprising using at least one hardware processor to: control a camera to begin at a prescribed starting position and move incrementally to capture a series of images of at least one fingerprint; once the images are captured, evaluating the captured images for best focus using an algorithm designed expressly for fingerprint ridge structure, wherein the focus in each frame can be determined by taking the average per pixel convolution value of a Laplace filter over a small region of the full resolution image and wherein the Laplace filter comprises: capturing an image at an initial focus distance, convolving the captured image with Laplacian of Gaussian kernel, assigning a score to the filtered image reflecting the amount to fine edge resolution, and dynamically updating the focus until an optimal distance is found.
