  • Publication number: 20060127458
Abstract: The invention relates to a single use cleansing sheet comprising: (a) a first fibrous water soluble polymer; (b) a second fibrous water soluble polymer which is different from said first fibrous water soluble polymer; wherein the ratio of (a) and (b) is effective to provide a cleansing sheet which wets out almost immediately upon contact with water; (c) a plasticizer in an amount effective to increase the flexibility and strength of the sheet; (d) a surfactant portion present in an amount effective to provide cleansing and lathering properties; and (e) water. In another embodiment, the invention relates to a method for cleansing the hands, face, hair, or body comprising wetting the cleansing sheet according to the invention with water, applying mild friction and contacting hands, face or body with the wetted sheet.

  • Patent number: 6133225
Abstract: There is provided a bar soap having an improved resistance to cracking after exposure to repeated cycles of moistening and drying. The bar soap, which contain greater than 3 wt % glycerin, is prepared from an initial blend of about 60 wt % to about 85 wt % tallow, about 10 wt % to about 40 wt % coconut oil and about 15 wt % to about 35 wt % fatty acid. The present invention also relates to the process of transforming the initial blend into a bar soap having an improved resistance to wet cracking.

  • Patent number: 5529714
Abstract: Formulations for transparent soaps and methods of preparation are disclosed. The transparent soaps are prepared by combining high and low molecular weight fatty acids in the presence of polyhydric alcohols. Citric acid is added to adjust pH. The formulations do not require volatile, short-chain monohydric alcohols to achieve transparency and the end products are able to retain transparent qualities when exposed to hot water conditions. Suitable formulations can be remelted to reduce waste.

  • Patent number: 5451338
Abstract: Soap formulations are made by incorporating a selected monohydric alcohol and suitable superfatting agents into high moisture molten soap. These formulations eliminate the formation of marring problems which are described as undesirable, white, chalk-like shatter marks and dents normally associated with handling, shipping and distribution to customers.

  • Patent number: 4405509
Abstract: Compositions which releases fragrance without burning and which comprise a petroleum wax base, 2 to 7 weight percent butyl rubber, 1 to 5 weight percent ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer and 9 to 15 weight percent fragrance are described. The compositions can be molded or otherwise formed into durable fragrance-emitting articles. The preferred compositions comprise 73 to 88 weight percent paraffin wax, 0 to 10 weight percent microcrystalline wax, 0 to 10 weight percent petrolatum, 1 to 5 weight percent ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, 2 to 7 weight percent butyl rubber and 9 to 15 weight percent fragrance. Such compositions may be flush molded into hollow shells which may be filled, preferably with a foamed wax.

  • Patent number: 4180470
Abstract: This invention relates to a detergent bar having superior use properties and comprising acyl isethionate as the major detergent surface active agent with an unesterified water-soluble alkali metal isethionate as a bar processing aid. Adding an alkoxy hydroxy propane sulfonate in conjunction with a small amount of sodium chloride to these toilet detergent bars significantly reduces the wear rate of the bar without adversely affecting its lathering characteristics.
