Abstract: Disclosed are nonstinging, sustained release ophthalmic formulations to control intraocular pressure in antiglaucoma therapy comprising a basic active, a cation exchange resin, and, inter alia, an acidic, mucomimetic polymer. Also disclosed are methods of treatment comprising administering such formulations topically to the eye when indicated for control and lowering of intraocular pressure.

Abstract: Disclosed is a liquid ophthalmic composition of unique rheological and lubricating properties comprising, inter alia, a polyanionic polymer for use as a long lasting artificial tear. Also disclosed is a method of treatment comprising topically administering the composition when indicated for relief of dry eye syndrome, foreign body sensation, burning, hyperemia, corneal staining, and the like.

Abstract: A microwave vacuum oven for quickly removing volatile material from laboratory samples: The oven has a vacuum chamber for receiving the samples in a closed vessel and a vacuum source for expelling volatile material. This vessel has preferably a deformable gasket for sealing engagement with a top and bottom portion, and a gas passage is also provided therein for easily removing the top portion. Auxiliary components are also disclosed for gradually decreasing the microwave energy output in accordance with residual volatile material present at a given time in a system.

Abstract: A control means for use in a mining apparatus includes a radiation-emitting device on a cutting machine, a number of receiving devices, one associated with each roof support of the apparatus, for receiving radiation from the radiation-emitting device as the machine passes a receiving device, whereby a main control signal is generated, and advance-initiating means for each roof support, responsive to a command signal. A main conductor is connected to the receiving devices for carrying a main control signal, and disabling means is associated with each advance-initiating means and main conductor for rendering a said advance-initiating means non-responsive to a command signal applied to that means when the main control signal is above a pre-determined value. Attenuating means associated with the main conductor between each pair of roof supports is provided for gradually reducing the main control signal to a value below said pre-determined value.

Abstract: Mining apparatus for use on a mineral face comprising a plurality of roof supports arranged along the face, the roof supports being capable of undergoing advancing movements in sequence, and a manually operable control means on each of at least some of the supports, arranged such that actuation of the control means on one support will enable any other support within a predetermined range of supports adjacent said one support to undergo an advancing movement if the support preceding the said support in the sequence has unergone an advancing movement, the number of supports between any two successive supports which have a control means being less than the number in said predetermined range.

Abstract: An improved pressure package of the type having a generally rigid container, a liner within the container forming a reservoir containing a product to be dispensed under the influence of a propellant outside the reservoir and valve means closing the container wherein the improvement is the product has a first non-gaseous fluid phase and a second non-gaseous fluid phase, the phases being immiscible and having different densities to form a phase boundary within the reservoir, an orifice for communicating the first phase to the valve and a dip tube for communicating the second phase to the valve.
