  • Publication number: 20200331169
Abstract: Improvements relate to a heat and energy integrated method and apparatus for plastic waste recovery having supercritical liquefaction. A volume of plastic waste is processed to produce a plastic waste stream. A reaction unit is utilized for adsorbing the plastic with a solvent having at least water, plus heating and pressurizing the plastic waste stream with the solvent into a supercritical extraction state for converting the plastic waste stream into a mixture fluid stream of a supercritical nature within the reaction unit. The mixture fluid stream may be cycled proximate to the outlet from the reaction unit via periodically letting the pressure down, and then letting the pressure recover. A volume of inert solids are removed from the mixture fluid stream thereby creating a remaining combined gases and liquids fluid stream. Power is recovered from the remaining combined gases and liquids fluid stream. And, volumes of water, gas and oil are separated from the combined gases and liquids fluid stream.

  • Publication number: 20110177219
Abstract: An impurity removal system for purifying wine removable from a wine source. The system includes a filtered wine container defined by a collection portion and having an opening for introducing the wine to the collection portion filtration device which is in operable communication between the wine source and the container, such that at least a portion of the wine introduced from the wine source is in fluid communication with the filtration device prior to collection in the collection portion of the filtered wine container. In operation, the wine is removed from the wine source, introduced to the system, passed through the filtration device and filtered wine flows into the collection portion of the filtered wine container. Vacuum-based and pressure-based filtration systems are also disclosed, as well as a method of removing impurities from wine.

Abstract: An impurity removal system (10) for purifying wine (12) removable from a wine source (14). The system (10) includes a filtered wine container (16) defined by a collection portion (20) and having an opening (18) for introducing the wine (12) to the collection portion filtration device (22) which is in operable communication between the wine source (14) and the container (16), such that at least a portion of the wine (12) introduced from the wine source (14) is in fluid communication with the filtration device (22) prior to collection in the collection portion (20) of the filtered wine container (16). In operation, the wine (12) is removed from the wine source (14), introduced to the system (10), passed through the filtration device (22) and filtered wine (24) flows into the collection portion (20) of the filtered wine container (16). Vacuum-based and pressure-based filtration systems are also disclosed, as well as a method of removing impurities from wine.

  • Patent number: 7300586
Abstract: An activated carbon composition is disclosed, which includes an activated carbon and a carboxylic acid containing compound. The activated carbon composition is prepared by immersing an activated carbon in an aqueous solution of a carboxylic acid containing compound. The activated carbon composition is used for purifying aqueous solutions by providing a bed of the activated carbon composition and passing the aqueous solution through the bed of the activated carbon composition. The aqueous solution is passed through the bed such that the flow of the aqueous solution to be purified into the bed and the flow of purified aqueous solution from the bed has a pH differential less than ±1 pH.

  • Patent number: 6425941
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an activated carbon composition that is resistant to oxidation and the activated carbon bed fires that can result from uncontrolled oxidation of the activated carbon bed. The activated carbon composition of the present invention includes from about 0.0001-25 wt. % of an antioxidant and from about 75-99.9999 wt. % activated carbon including any and all other impregnants and moisture. The presence of the antioxidant on the surface of the activated carbon inhibits uncontrolled oxidation and the activated carbon bed fires that can result. A method of removing solvents from a solvent-laden gas is also disclosed. The method includes passing the solvent-laden gas through an activated carbon bed, which contains the activated carbon composition described above.
