  • Patent number: 4039631
Abstract: Radiation cross-linkable compositions comprising a copolymer of ethylene and a halogenated monomer selected from the group consisting of chlorotrifluoroethylene, tetrafluoroethylene and mixtures thereof and an effective amount of a radiation cross-linking agent selected from the group consisting of diallyl isophthalate, diallyl terephthalate and mixtures thereof.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 5, 1975
Date of Patent: August 2, 1977
    Assignee: Allied Chemical Corporation
Inventors: Arthur B. Robertson, Robert J. Schaffhauser
  • Patent number: 3989873
Abstract: This invention relates to a composition comprising a copolymer of ethylene and a halogenated comonomer selected from the group consisting of tetrafluoroethylene, chlorotrifluoroethylene and mixtures thereof and 0 to 10 mol percent of an additional monomer selected from the group consisting of 3,3,3-trifluoro-2-trifluoromethyl propene, a vinyl monomer which is free of telogenic activity and which provides a side chain having at least two carbon atoms, said side chain being aromatic or having its elements bonded together by a single bond only, or mixtures thereof, and containing from about 1 to about 40% by weight of an oxide of cobalt, nickel, manganese, chromium, tin, molybdenum, tungsten or mixtures thereof. Such compositions are particularly useful as a primer coating for substrates such as metals in conjunction with an overlying layer of such copolymers.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 27, 1975
Date of Patent: November 2, 1976
    Assignee: Allied Chemical Corporation
Inventors: Arthur B. Robertson, Robert J. Schaffhauser, Elmer C. Lupton, William A. Miller
  • Patent number: 3947525
Abstract: Melt-processable, radiation cross-linkable ethylene/chlorotrifluoroethylene copolymer compositions are provided which contain about 0.1 to 5% by weight of the copolymer of a radiation cross-linking promoter, about 0.01 to 5% by weight of an anti-oxidant and about 0.1 to 30% by weight of an acid scavenger. Such compositions do not give off odors when irradiated to cross-link the copolymer and do not develop bubbles after irradiation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 30, 1973
Date of Patent: March 30, 1976
    Assignee: Allied Chemical Corporation
Inventors: Arthur B. Robertson, Robert J. Schaffhauser
