  • Patent number: 10793304
Abstract: A system for reducing oxygen in a package of produce product using a lance manifold. The lance manifold has a first end adapted to receive an input gas flow and a second end adapted for placement in a partially-enclosed cavity containing the produce product. The second end of the lance manifold includes a plurality of exit ports adapted to produce an output gas flow and a sampling port for taking an air sample from the partially-enclosed cavity. The system also includes an oxygen analyzer for detecting oxygen content of gas inside the partially-enclosed cavity using the sampling port. The system is configured to produce an output gas flow with the following properties: a substantially oxygen-free composition; a flow rate of at least 100 standard cubic feet per hour (SCFH); and a flow direction substantially 90 degrees to a cavity opening of the partially-enclosed cavity.

  • Patent number: 6494345
Abstract: A gas-assisted food decorating system is provided for applying frosting and the like to an item of food. The system includes a foot pedal assembly having a pedal housing and a movable pedal. A variable pressure valve assembly is disposed in the foot pedal assembly between the pedal housing and the pedal. An input hose extends between a source of pressurized gas and an input opening in the valve. An output hose extends between an output opening of the valve and a dispenser. The dispenser includes a chamber for holding the frosting, and a nozzle in communication with the chamber for dispensing the frosting. The flow of frosting can be controlled by manipulating the foot pedal assembly.

  • Patent number: 6313464
Abstract: A portable, infrared, multiple gas analyzer for measuring the concentration of a plurality of infrared absorbent gases with a simple optical arrangement for transmitting an infrared beam along an optical path along with gas mixtures to be analyzed. Light transmitting tubes arranged in a U-like configuration transmit infrared energy and the gases applied thereto over a small path to an infrared detector from an infrared source and provide electrical analog output signals representative of the detected gases. The detector output signals are processed by D.C. processing circuits including an analog to digital converter and microprocessing circuits for providing digital, binary coded, output signals representative of the detected gas concentration of the infrared absorbent gases. The analyzer can be readily calibrated by applying a non-infrared absorbent gas to the gas analyzer to provide a maximum output signal level with the infrared beam on and the background level or dark level signal with the beam off.
