  • Patent number: 8116713
Abstract: A signal processing system and methods for controlling a bandwidth of the signal processing system are disclosed. One method includes the steps of detecting a presence of an adjacent signal on at one adjacent channel relative to a desired channel, detecting a modulation characteristic of the desired channel, measuring a signal strength on the at least one adjacent channel, measuring a signal strength on the desired channel, and adjusting a bandwidth filter applied to the desired channel in response to the measurements and detection steps.

  • Publication number: 20090174682
Abstract: An instrumentation assembly for installation in a vehicle dashboard is disclosed herein. The instrumentation assembly includes an electronic controller, an enclosure, a viewable gauge, a viewable display, and a proximity-sensing switch. The controller has a memory for storing information. The enclosure has a designated front section and a designated rear section, wherein the front section includes substantially transparent material so as to define a window. Both the gauge and the display are electrically connected to the controller and mounted within the enclosure so as to substantially face the window. The switch is electrically connected to the controller and operable to sense the proximal presence of a human finger. In this configuration, the display is operable to exhibit the memory's information for viewing, and the switch is activatable by a human finger to selectively control the exhibition of the information on the display. Furthermore, an instrumentation module is also disclosed herein.

  • Publication number: 20090103751
Abstract: A system and method for adjusting an output sound signal for an audio device includes a speed sensitive volume transfer unit, a dynamic processing unit and a sound volume update unit. The speed sensitive volume transfer unit is configured to output a volume gain signal based on a speed sensitive volume setting input, a volume gain input and an adjustment signal. The dynamic processing unit is in communication with the speed sensitive volume transfer unit and is configured to output a modified volume signal based upon the adjustment signal and the volume gain signal. The sound volume update unit is in communication with the dynamic processing unit and a raw sound signal. The sound volume update unit outputs a corrected sound signal based on the modified volume gain signal and the raw sound signal.

  • Patent number: 6760452
Abstract: An audio system limits gain in individual audio channels having a shared clip detect signal from a multi-channel power amplifier such that only channels likely to be exceeding the distortion threshold are gain limited. In addition, any arbitrary channels may be grouped together for common gain limiting. The invention monitors the power level of each audio channel, compares the power level to a power threshold that indicates whether a high power condition with the potential to cause excess distortion exists or not, and makes a decision whether to activate each channel's gain limiter based on whether the corresponding clip detect signal is active and the high power condition exists simultaneously for that channel.
