A patient bed that transmits bed data and catheter monitor data is disclosed. When catheter tubing is connected to a catheter monitor integrated into a patient bed, the bed automatically implements a falls prevention protocol. A countdown timer pertaining to removal of catheter tubing from a patient is displayed on one or more display devices. Monitoring for caregiver handwashing compliance in connection with use of a catheter monitor or a catheter kit is also provided.

A mattress support deck is coupled to the upper frame and includes a foot deck section. The foot deck section is movable with respect to the rest of the mattress support deck to raise and lower. A drainage bag support is coupled to the foot deck section and is configured to support a drainage bag. Control circuitry controls movement of the upper frame and the foot deck section. The control circuitry has a lockout mode to limit the movement of the upper frame and foot deck section to prevent the drainage bag from touching a floor.

A compression therapy module is located inside the footboard or is mounted to a foot section of the frame. A sleeve port is pneumatically coupled to the compression therapy module and is located on the foot section. The sleeve port is configured for attachment to at least one tube extending from a compression sleeve worn on a limb of a patient. Control circuitry is coupled to the frame and is operable to control functions of the patient support apparatus and to control the compression therapy module. A graphical display screen is coupled to the control circuitry and displays user inputs that are selected to control functions of the patient support apparatus and the compression therapy module.
