  • Patent number: 8348405
Abstract: A molten ink supply for a solid ink printing machine includes a container for storing solid ink pellets and a withdrawal tube having an inlet end disposed within the container. A vacuum generator is disposed at the outlet end of the withdrawal tube operable to draw a vacuum within the tube. A feed conduit is connected to the outlet end for receiving solid ink pellets drawn therein by said vacuum generator and conveying the pellets to a melting station operable to melt the solid ink pellets. An assist tube is provided within the container with a discharge nozzle disposed within the withdrawal tube at the inlet end and operable to provide a flow of air into the withdrawal tube to agitate solid ink pellets and facilitate withdrawal of the pellets by the vacuum generator.

  • Patent number: 7310491
Abstract: A non-gouging sheet stripper assembly is disclosed for stripping copy sheets from a surface of a moving fusing member. The non-gouging sheet stripper assembly includes (a) at least one baffle forming part of a sheet path; (b) a finger shaft having a first end attached to the at least one baffle and a second distal end for forming a sheet directing first angle with the surface of the moving fusing member; and (c) a finger tip located at the second distal end of the finger shaft and having a contour for forming a sheet stripping second angle, that is different from the sheet directing first angle with the surface of the moving fusing member.

  • Patent number: 7228082
Abstract: A printing machine adapted to print an image on a plurality of different predefined sized sheets, including: means for selecting a sheet of a predefined size to be imaged; means for recording image; means for developing the image; means for transferring the image on the sheet; and a fuser for fusing the image onto the sheet, the fuser includes an endless belt having a plurality of predefined sized fusing areas being selectively activatable, and wherein the plurality of predefined sized fusing areas are arranged in a substantially parallel manner along a process direction of the belt; and means for activating one or more of the plurality of predefined sized fusing areas to correspond to one of the selected predefined sized sheet.

  • Patent number: 6876832
Abstract: A fuser for an electrophotographic printer or copier has a fuser roll and pressure roll that form a nip through which a recording paper having a toner image is passed to fuse the toner image thereon. The fuser includes a cleaning web system to clean the fuser roll having a web supply roll, a tension roll to press the web against the fuser roll, and a web take up roll. To prevent spooling of the web from the supply roll during a paper jam clearance while the pressure roll is in contact with the fuser roll, a torsion spring is mounted on the tension roll shaft. The torsion spring provides enough torsional force on the tension roll to prevent rotation thereof during a jam clearance, thus preventing web spooling. During normal operation, the take up roll intermittently overcomes the torsion spring to step the web thereon.
