Abstract: The present disclosure provides a smokeless tobacco substitute which may reduce and/or alleviate many of the health problems associated with the use of cigarettes and conventional smokeless tobacco products. Further, methods of manufacturing and packaging the smokeless tobacco substitute are also disclosed. Finally a method of using the smokeless tobacco substitute to assist a user in reducing or ceasing the use of cigarettes and conventional smokeless tobacco products is also disclosed.

Abstract: A smoking cessation device is provided. The smoking cessation device includes a dispensing member comprising porous plastic defining a matrix of an internal network of passages in communication with pores on the exterior of the device. The device is preferably sized and structured like a cigarette or other combustible smoking device. Residing within the matrix is a dispensate extractable therefrom upon exposure to a fluid. In one form the dispensate may be a tobacco derivative including one or more of nicotine, tobacco flavoring, menthol, vitamins, minerals, therapeutic agents, and/or additional flavoring.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing synthetic substitutes for smokeless tobacco are provided. In one form, the application relates to systems for cessation of smokeless tobacco use and methods for making and using same. More particularly, but not exclusively, the application relates to the use of a plurality of porous plastic dispensing members sized and structured to imitate a quantity of smokeless tobacco, such as chewing tobacco. The porous plastic members define a matrix including an internal network of passages in communication with pores on the exterior of the dispensing members. Residing within the matrix is a dispensate imitative of one or more characteristics of smokeless tobacco which is extractable from the matrix upon exposure to a fluid. In one form, the dispensate may be a tobacco derivative including one or more of nicotine, tobacco flavoring, menthol, vitamins, minerals, therapeutic agents, and/or additional flavoring.

Abstract: The present invention provides a porous plastic article for dispensing a soluble or dispersible dispensate into a fluid stream. An inventive article preferably comprise polyethylene or polypropylene and has defined therein a network of passages in fluid communication with pores on the exposed surface of the article, the pores preferably having a diameter of from about 20 microns to about 200 microns. In accordance with the invention, the dispensing article may be removably attached to a beverage container cap, a bottle neck or a conduit such as, for example, a sports-bottle straw, to introduce the substance into a fluid coming into contact with the article.
