  • Patent number: 4770586
Abstract: A bumper assembly is provided employing a fastener device which is received in a slotted opening formed in a sheet or plate. The fastener device is constructed such that an elongated flange is inserted through the slotted opening, and the fastener may be rotated through one quarter turn at which point it reaches a stop position and is locked in position. Upon reversal of rotation of the fastener through one quarter turn the rotation reaches a stop position at which point the fastener is easily removed from the slotted opening.

  • Patent number: 4644612
Abstract: A resilient clip is provided for retaining a projection formed on a panel into an opening in a support structure. The clip has a "V" or "U" shaped lead portion provided with locking legs for retaining the projection in the lead portion and a pair of centrally located legs having locking shoulders for retaining the clip in the opening. The free ends of the centrally located locking legs have portions removed therefrom such that they are capable of being moved one past the other, when the locking shoulders are moved toward one another during entry of the fastener into the opening.

  • Patent number: 4630338
Abstract: A one-piece resilient fastener or molding clip for retaining trim, molding or applique strips, parts, panels and other decorative items in bridging position over a gap between two spaced members is disclosed. Such a clip, which is particularly useful for attaching objects such as trim strips in automobile interiors, is attached through a suitably-shaped aperture in a base or support, particularly a plastic base panel, disposed in the gap, and has a pair of flexing wings or legs extending upwardly and outwardly from the end of the clip opposite the end to which the decorative item being retained is attached. These flexing wings or legs, designed to prevent them from passing completely through the base or support, permit variation take up between the decorative item being retained and the base or support as well as repeated assemblies and disassemblies of the clip to the base or support, with minimum insertion force and adequate removal effort, without destroying the clip or damaging the base or support.
