Publication number: 20200262294Abstract: Exemplary embodiments described in this disclosure are generally directed to systems and methods for configuring an infotainment display in an automobile to operate as a backup display to an electronic instrument cluster of the automobile in the event of a failure in the electronic instrument cluster. For example, if the electronic instrument cluster turns blank as a result of a failed component or a faulty power supply, at least some of the graphics that were displayed on the electronic instrument cluster are automatically displayed on the infotainment display. The graphics displayed on the infotainment display can include, for example, a speedometer graphic that is dynamically updated in a real-time mode of operation to indicate a speed at which the automobile is moving. The speedometer graphic on the infotainment display substantially replicates the speedometer graphic that was displayed on the electronic instrument cluster prior to the occurrence of the fault.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 18, 2019Publication date: August 20, 2020Applicant: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventor: Roberto Gautier

Patent number: 8238960Abstract: A method (100) in a multi-transmitter mobile device (201) can include transmitting (102) a signal in a first mode causing an interrupting signal to a transmission in a second mode, receiving (104) commands to increase power in the second mode as a result of the interrupting signal, and circumventing (106) the commands to increase power in the second mode when transmitting the signal in the first mode interrupts the signal in the second mode. The method can circumvent commands to increase power by alternating (108) a power control bit up and down and masking a true bit coming from a base station to the multi-transmitter mobile device. In another alternative, the method can circumvent by storing (110) a power control setting prior to the interrupting signal with a stored value, waiting for a removal of the interrupting signal, and overwriting a calculated power control setting with the stored value.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 2008Date of Patent: August 7, 2012Assignee: Motorola Mobility LLCInventors: Jason Young, Roberto Gautier

Patent number: 7593706Abstract: A GPS receiver circuit (300) for reducing insertion loss. The receiver circuit (300) includes a switch (304) for diverting input signals between a filtered pathway (312) and a short circuit pathway (310) to an amplifier (314). The amplifier (314) output feeds an automatic gain controller (316) that senses a noise level in the output of the amplifier (314) and adjusts a gain of the amplifier (314) in response to the noise level. The receiver circuit (300) also includes a threshold detector (306) with an input coupled to the output of the automatic gain controller (316) and an output coupled to the switch (304) for selecting between the filtered pathway (312) and the short circuit pathway (310), thereby removing the filter (312) from the signal path if not needed.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2005Date of Patent: September 22, 2009Assignee: Motorola, Inc.Inventors: Brian E. Publication number: 20080298287Abstract: A priority scheme method (300) for a communication system (100) at a base station (110) is described herein. The method can include the steps of receiving (310) from one or more mobile devices (120, 130) a power status message and allocating (315) a data profile of a frame based on the power status messages to enable higher priority mobile devices to receive data in the frame before lower priority mobile devices. As an example, the power status message may indicate whether a mobile device is being powered by a portable power source (175) or a non-portable power source (195).Type: ApplicationFiled: May 30, 2007Publication date: December 4, 2008Applicant: MOTOROLA, INC.Inventors: Ricardo Martinez-Perez, Roberto Gautier

Publication number: 20080153503Abstract: A system and method for a dual mode device to intelligently handle incoming communications can include a mobile communication device and a notification engine. The mobile communication device can have more than one communication mode. The notification engine can perform an intelligent notification action whenever the mobile communication device is actively engaged in a communication session and an incoming call for a new session is received. The active session and the new session can correspond to different communication modes that are unable to be concurrently used. One configuration for an intelligent notification can be to selectively notify the mobile device user of the call depending upon a caller's importance level Another configuration for the intelligent notification can be to notify a blocked caller that the called device is busy or is actively being used for communications involving the original communication mode.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 21, 2006Publication date: June 26, 2008Applicant: MOTOROLA, INC.Inventors: MANISH BIRLA, VINUTHANANDA BINDINGANAVILE, ROBERTO GAUTIER, RICARDO MARTINEZ-PEREZ
